1. The early bird catches the worm: sunrise on Mount Ahorn
Sunrise in the mountains is something you should experience at least once in your life – the play of light at dawn is a sight to behold. The numerous peaks in the Zillertal Alps are ideal locations to experience this natural spectacle. The sunrise gondola to “AhornPlateau” offers a comfortable alternative for those who prefer to experience sunrise without enduring the arduous climb.

By the way: the giant cabin of the Ahornbahn gondola is part of the largest reversible aerial tramway in Austria, offering a speedy ascent from 630 to 2,000 metres above sea level.

2. Huts with a heart – offer exceptional hospitality
Hikes to mountain huts, or hut to hut tours can be found everywhere. Hikes to “huts with a heart”, however, can only be found in our holiday region. “Huts with a heart” are distinguished by a giant metal heart with colourful ribbons attached to it. These are friendship ribbons from hikers who use them to signify their fellowship and solidarity with the holiday region.

3. Explore the Zillertal Valley on two wheels
The Zillertal cycle path is an excellent option for exploring the valley on two wheels. Measuring around 30 kilometres in length with only a few metres in elevation difference, the route is also ideal for families. Take the Zillertalbahn railway for a comfortable return journey. A ride on the 119-year-old steam train is a particularly special highlight in summer, bringing a touch of nostalgia and charming flair to the route.

The impressive adventure trail in the Stilluptal tributary valley stretches over a distance of eight kilometres and treats hikers to an unforgettable experience of nature. You will encounter romantic streams and impressive waterfalls along the way, whilst enjoying picturesque views of idyllic alpine pastures.

By solving puzzles in the escape rooms, you follow in the footsteps of ancient legends and stories of the valley. Skill is required for a round of adventure golf. You can really let off steam at the Laser Tag, where you collect your hits under the aliases of local animals.

8. The pleasure of music in the open air
Music and the history of Zillertal are closely intertwined. This affinity is also reflected in the numerous local music groups, who are known far beyond the borders of the region. Live music can be found almost every day in summer, be it in the hotel gardens, at open-air concerts by local town bands, at multi-day music festivals at the unique Forest Festival Area, or unplugged concerts at mountain huts in the region The hills are alive with the sound of music in Zillertal!
