The latest spectacle with guaranteed goose bumps: on 5 April 2018, the 1st Nordic Night Race will see amateur cross-country skiers and professionals, such as Dominik Baldauf, David Pommer, Urban Lentsch, Christoph Bieler, Fabian Schaad and Mario Seidl and many more, going head-to-head in some exciting races through the centre of Galtür. One particularly attractive feature: the race is a cross-country sprint on the flat and anyone aged 15 and over (deadline 5 April 2018) can take part free-of-charge and go head-to-head against the stars of the scene. The 1st Nordic Night Race will kick off at 18:30. Once each participant has completed the 500m qualification round in individual races, the 16 fastest participants in the men’s and women’s categories will progress to the finals. The finals will then take place from 20:00 comprising two circuits (1000m in total) through the town centre, based on a knock-out principle. The finalists will begin their battle for the 7,900 euro prize money in groups of four and the two fastest from each group will progress. The winners’ ceremony will take place at 22:00. Up-and-coming racers will also have a chance to take part in the 1st Nordic Night Race: children born in 2006 and up to age 15 (deadline 4 April 2018) can also start out at 18:30 in the qualification round. Then the children’s finals will begin at 19:30. And best of all: taking part pays off because every child will receive a prize at the winners’ ceremony, no matter how fast.
Good to know: thanks to the artificial snow-making facilities, the race will take place regardless of the weather or snow conditions. Registrations for the 1st Nordic Night Race are open online now. The field of participants is limited. The deadline for registration is 4 April 2018 at 18:00. Depending on capacity, late registrations may also be accepted on-site on the day. Participation is free-of-charge.
