In Tyrol, the Kufsteinerland region brings together the beauty of scenic mountains and romantic bathing lakes with an urban lifestyle. The town of Kufstein, with its picturesque old town, cafés, restaurants, shops and boutiques, offers an eclectic holiday experience —from culture and music to shopping and fine dining at renowned restaurants. It’s the perfect destination for a refreshing, rejuvenating and active vacation.

The region’s strengths include its easy accessibility by public transport. Kufstein is located on the international railway line, opening a wide range of opportunities for those who want to try something new and different every day. In summer, the temperatures are always pleasant – perfect for sports or diving into the swimmable lakes. Sports enthusiasts can enjoy flat cycle paths, such as the one that follows the mighty Inn River flowing through the town, as well as more challenging mountain bike trails.

For hiking lovers, the network of well-marked trails is extensive: one can hike solo or with a guide, thanks to the wide range of options offered by the tourist office via the KufsteinerlandCard, a free card provided upon arrival that grants access to many group activities. Nature here is not only vertical, but also horizontal, like the limestone massif of the Kaisergebirge, whose rock formations astonish with every step.

The 5 swimmable lakes are ideal for those longing for refreshing dips and long swims during the summer. A holiday in Kufsteinerland is the perfect antidote to summer heat. A true coolcation  near fresh lakes, streams, pools and natural springs. The small Bananensee lake lies on the sunny plateau of Schwoich. Stimmersee, located in Langkampfen, is small and peaceful, perfect for cooling off in tranquility.

Thiersee is the most popular with families, surrounded by vast meadows and playgrounds for children.
There’s also lake Hechtsee, ideal for long swims surrounded by forest. Well-equipped for children’s and teens’ enjoyment, like beach volleyball area and table tennis.

Those seeking a holistic getaway that regenerates body, mind and spirit can explore 35 energy spots and feel nature’s vitality. These areas are grouped into three themes -marked as a triangle on maps available at the tourist office: energy from rock and earth; energy from sun and light; and energy from nature and tranquility.

Among the many offerings that make Kufsteinerland a rich mosaic capable of fulfilling every desire are its musical and cultural highlights. This summer, from May 25 to October 4, the renowned Passion Plays take the stage – a grand show (UNESCO-recognized since 2013) that has been reenacting the Passion of Christ since 1623. The play features many residents of Erl, a small town of about 1,500 inhabitants with two internationally acclaimed theaters: one dedicated to Passion Play and the other to chamber and classical music.

Kufsteinerland, located in Tyrol on the border with Bavaria, captivates with its unique combination of nature, culture, and genuine Tyrolean hospitality.
The lively town of Kufstein, with around 20,000 inhabitants, is the second largest in Tyrol and is often referred to as the “Pearl of Tyrol” – a place where alpine charm meets urban elegance.Together with its eight surrounding villages, it forms the Kufsteinerland holiday region. Overlooked by the imposing Kufstein Fortress – the historic symbol of the town – this destination offers memorable experiences amid mountains, lakes, and rich traditions. Thanks to its ideal location on the international railway line, Kufstein is easily accessible by train and via the motorway. At the foot of the town lies the majestic Kaisergebirge (Kaiser mountain range), easily reached by the Kaiserlift chairlift. The stunning mountain landscape, gentle alpine meadows, and six idyllic swimming lakes create a truly breathtaking setting. Nature lovers, sports enthusiasts, and culture seekers alike will feel right at home here.
