New distances enrich the trail experience

In addition to the proven K42 and K18 routes, participants can look forward to two new challenges in 2026. With the K30 over 30 kilometres and the K10 over 10 kilometres, the offer will be even more diverse and appeal to both ambitious runners and beginners. All distances start on the legendary Schlickeralmlauf route, before it goes over a wide variety of trails into the area of the Schlicker Kalkkögel. Like the start, the finish is in the heart of Telfes, where the athletes will be cheered on by the spectators.

Austrian National Championship in Trail Marathon on the K42

A special highlight of this year’s event is the holding of the Austrian State Championship in the Trail Marathon on the K42 distance. Over 42 kilometres and around 2,500 metres in altitude, the route leads through the spectacular mountain world of the Kalkkögel, past rugged rocks, alpine meadows and panoramic paths that challenge even experienced trail runners. With the awarding of the state championship to the Kalkkögeltrail, the Austrian Athletics Association underlines the growing importance of this event for national running.

“Trail running on the pulse of time” – organizer is in a positive mood

Andreas Stern, head of the organizing committee of the Telfes sports club, is enthusiastic about the development of the event: “It was the right decision to create the trail run with different distances and not just offer a pure mountain run. This puts us in tune with the times. The Kalkkögel Trail has been developing for three years and is gaining more and more interest and importance – which is impressively confirmed by the staging of the state championship. We are already looking forward to a great running weekend with as many participants and spectators as possible!”

Children runs, charity run and a weekend full of emotions

In addition to the main competitions, children runs are also on the programme, in which the young runners compete in different age groups and gain their first trail experience. There will also be a charity run, the proceeds of which will go to a good cause.

The atmospheric finale in the evening is the big running festival in the marquee with the festive award ceremony, a raffle and musical entertainment, where the focus is on sporting successes and joint celebrations.

All information about registration, program and routes can be found on the official website www.kalkkoegeltrail.at .
