New routes, new perspectives: From 5 to 7 August 2027, the Pillerseetal will once again welcome trail runners from around the world – with a new marathon course and challenges for every level.

Registration for the KAT100 by UTMB® 2027 opens on 24 September 2026 at 2 pm. Trail runners can then secure their place at the next edition of the spectacular event in the Pillerseetal in the Kitzbühel Alps. Runners with a valid UTMB Index will have the opportunity to register early: Priority Registration begins on 22 September 2026 at 2 pm.

From 5 to 7 August 2027, the Pillerseetal will once again bring together the international trail running community. Challenging trails, the impressive alpine landscape of the Kitzbühel Alps and the unique atmosphere along the courses make the KAT100 a memorable experience for runners from around the world.

For 2027, the event also has something new in store on the marathon distance. New routes, new perspectives is the motto for the revamped course.

New Routes for the Marathon Trail

There will be something new to discover at the KAT100 by UTMB® in 2027. The Marathon Trail will undergo a major change, with the aim of making the race an even more rewarding experience for participants.

The course is currently being finalised and will feature one single, larger loop instead of two loops. For the first time, the route is also planned to cross the state border between Tyrol and Salzburg, offering runners a completely new way to experience the spectacular mountain landscape of the Kitzbühel Alps.

The new course marks another important milestone in the development of the KAT100 by UTMB®, underlining the event’s ambition to evolve year after year and offer trail runners an increasingly distinctive race experience.

Exactly where the new route will lead and which special sections it will include will be revealed at a later date. Full details will be published on the KAT100 by UTMB® website in due course.

Trail Running for Every Level

The KAT100 by UTMB® offers a diverse range of races, with challenges to suit different levels of experience and ambition. At the heart of the event is the 100-mile race, which pushes experienced ultra runners to their limits.

The programme also includes the Endurance, Marathon and Speed distances, giving trail runners the opportunity to choose a challenge that matches their individual ambitions.

Those looking for a shorter and more relaxed introduction to trail running can get their first taste of the sport on the Easy Trail. The popular Kids Trail gives the youngest participants the chance to experience the thrill of trail running and discover the sport for themselves.

From a first trail running adventure to the ultimate 100-mile challenge, the KAT100 by UTMB® offers a race for every level.

“In 2026, we reached another major milestone with the KAT100. Around 1,700 trail runners from more than 55 nations took part, making it our biggest edition yet in the Pillerseetal. What impressed me most was the atmosphere in the centre of Fieberbrunn. From the race starts to the finish area, you could feel the excitement throughout the village. This unique atmosphere is what makes the KAT100 what it is today, and it is exactly what we want to build on in 2027. At the same time, the new marathon course will offer new routes and a completely new running experience in the impressive mountain landscape of the Kitzbühel Alps,” says Christof Willms, Managing Director of the Pillerseetal Tourism Association.

International Trail Running in the Pillerseetal

As part of the renowned UTMB® World Series, the KAT100 by UTMB® has established itself firmly on the international trail running scene. Together with Mozart 100 by UTMB®, it is one of just two events in Austria to be part of the series, attracting trail runners from numerous countries to the Pillerseetal.

When the start lines fill up again in August 2027, the KAT100 will once again combine international trail running with the spectacular alpine landscape of the region. Familiar race distances, new routes and new perspectives will make the next edition another highlight of the international trail running calendar.
