Ischgl celebrates 25 years of Ischgl Ironbike Marathon

From 31 July to 3 August 2019, the legendary Ischgl Ironbike will be held for the fourth time as a multi-day Mountainbike Festival. The Ischgl Ironbike Marathon will be held for the 25th time this year. Total prize-money is more than 40,000 euros. New in 2019: Stage race as a four-day event and an evaluation divided into pro and amateur cyclists at the Silvretta Mountainbike King and Queen 2019. Entries accepted as of now.

Hard, harder, Ischgl Ironbike. In the Queen’s stage, the legendary classic is among the toughest and most challenging mountain bike races in Europe. 75.8 km covering 3,700 m altitude difference are to be covered in the “Hard” category on 3 August 2019. But the 25th edition of the cult race from 31 July to 3 August 2019 will offer mountain bikers a multi-day festival programme already before this. Apart from the main race, at which cyclists start in three different levels of difficulty, a whole range of additional bike-events await participants and the audience: E-bikers turn night into day during the night-time Hill Climb at the “Ischgl Alpenhaus Trophy”. Almost 1,000 altitude metres on a floodlit course make the “Foxhunt” an exciting race with a special atmosphere. The “Short-Track” is a true show-event. Here, pros and hobby cyclists engage in exciting head-to-head races on a circular course in separate categories. All up-and-coming bikers can pit themselves against their peers at the Ironbike Kids- and Juniors Trophy. Entries accepted as of now. On equal footing with the pros
At the Ischgl Ironbike Stage Race, pros collect their UCI-points this year over the four stages “Alpenhaus Trophy”, “Short Track”, the Ironbike Marathon route “Hard” and the new race format “Individual time trial”. These lead along steep ramps up to 2,800 m altitude, only to dash down into the valley again on spectacular single tracks. No less challenging is the Ironbike “Medium” route with 48.80 km and 2,098 altitude metres, which is sure to stretch the limits even of the fittest bikers.

Until 31 May 2019, those registering early for the Ironbike pay euro 54 entry fee for the “Hard” and “Medium” routes, until 26 July 2019 64 euro. Late entries possible locally as of 27 July 2019 until one hour before the start for 76 euro. Entries accepted as of now on www.ischglironbike.com.

Ironbike-Feeling for hobby cyclists
Those who have always wanted to try out Ironbike but are put off by the long distances can experience Race-Feeling on the Ironbike “Light” circuit. Over a distance of 28.70 km and 849 altitude metres, the course leads from the Larein in the direction of Galtür and back to Ischgl again. Those registering early for the Ironbike pay 44 euro entry fee for the “Light” route until 31 May 2019, or 54 euro until 26 July 2019. New evaluation for the Silvretta MTB King and Queen 2019
Thanks to the new category “Pro” or “Amateur cyclists”, amateurs also have a fair chance to become Silvretta MTB King or Silvretta MTB Queen in 2019. All contenders for the coveted crown start as usual at the Montafon MTB Marathon on 27 July 2019 as well as on 3 August 2019 at the Ischgl Ironbike Marathon. The combined evaluation will be divided into the two new categories pro and amateur cyclists on the distances M³ Extreme and Ironbike Marathon distance “Hard”. For the distances M² Challenging and Ironbike Marathon distance “Medium”, everything will remain in one category as usual. The fastest finishers in the ladies’ and men’s will be awarded with regal prizes. Registering for both races will save you 10 euro. UCI S2-stage-race
Those who aim for the overall victory in the stage race and want to collect UCI-points, must complete all four race formats as of 2019. Then it’s about not dropping any seconds in individual time trials “Alpenhaus Trophy”, “Short Track” and Ironbike Marathon distance “Hard”, as all times will be added up. The fastest finishers will be awarded not just the leader jersey, but also daily prize money as well as the total prize money for the Ischgl Ironbike Stage Race. Until 31 May 2019, those registering early for the UCI S2-stages pay euro 94 entry fee, or 104 euro until 26 July 2019. Individual time trial: New race format in the UCI S2-stage-race
On Wednesday 31 July, participants in the individual time trial will tackle a circuit with 246 altitude metres and 7.06 km. The circuit leads along sealed, field and forest roads. The race is open to licensed and hobby cyclists, starting in their own respective categories. The individual time trial is a permanent feature of the UCI S2-stage-race.

Alpenhaus Trophy: In the evening it’s up to lofty heights
1,000 altitude metres await participants of the Alpenhaus Trophy at night. The night-time Hill Climb on 1 August 2019 from 20:00 is also the starting signal for the Ischgl Ironbike Festival. The floodlit route leads along 7.33 km from the town centre of Ischgl to the Idalp up to the Alpenhaus located at 2,320 m. The Alpenhaus Trophy is a permanent feature of the new UCI S2-stage-race, but can also be completed individually as an individual race. Ischgl Short Track
In this spectacular sprint race the aim is to complete many laps as quickly as possible. The Ischgl Short Track Reyes takes place the evening before the Ischgl Ironbike Marathon, on 2 August from 18:00. This format makes it particularly interesting for spectators, as the participants pass the individual course sections of the head-to-head race several times.
The challenging circular course is open to licensed and hobby cyclists, starting in their own respective categories. The Ischgl Short Track is a permanent feature of the UCI S2-stage-race.

Foxhunt on e-bikes
On 1 August, e-mountain bikers will compete with a pro at the E-bike Foxhunt powered by BH BIKES. After the start in Ischgl, the “Hunters” will have 7.33 km and 941 altitude metres up to the Idalp to catch up with the “Fox”. Ironbike Kids- and Juniors Trophy: Race for up-and-coming bikers
