Autumn magic in the Stubai Valley

When the leaves turn into warm yellow, red and orange tones, the temperatures become milder and the clear autumn air reveals a view of the Stubai mountains, a particularly atmospheric season begins in the Stubai Valley. From Tuesday, 01 September, to Sunday, 01 November 2026, the ‘Echt Stubai’-Autumn Highlights invite you to two months full of nature experiences, living tradition, regional cuisine and varied music. During hiking nights, cattle drives, guided hikes, live music, regional moments of enjoyment and sporting highlights, guests spend a late summer break with locals in the Stubai Valley.

By torchlight to the Grawa waterfall

A special prelude to the autumn highlights is offered on Tuesday, 01 September, and Tuesday, 08 September, by the Stubai Hiking Nights at the Grawa Waterfall. From 7:30 p.m. each day, mountain and nature enthusiasts make their way along the WildeWasserWeg. Accompanied by the moonlight and the glow of the torches, the hike leads from the Raffein Bridge in the direction of the Grawa waterfall to the Grawa Alm. Along the route, a fire show, interesting facts about local herbs and a varied music Programme provide special experiences. The stands of the Stubai gourmet businesses invite you to take enjoyable breaks with regional specialities such as farmhouse bread, bacon, cheese, honey and wine. The highlight of the evening is the impressively illuminated Grawa waterfall. A free bus transfer takes visitors to the starting point of the hike and back again.

Autumn enjoyment between tradition and music

Even during the day, the Stubai autumn offers ideal conditions to discover the mountains. When the summer heat subsides and the landscape slowly changes colour, mild temperatures and clear views invite you to go on long leisurely hikes. Guided tours open up different perspectives on nature and lead through the autumnal landscape of the entire valley. Living customs, local music and regional cuisine also play an important role during the autumn highlights. Among the most popular events are the traditional cattle drives: On Saturday, 12 September, the animals return from the alpine pastures in Telfes. On Saturday, 19 September, the cattle drive will follow in Fulpmes, before the conclusion will be celebrated in Milders on Saturday, 26 September.

Musical events, regional specialities and social get-togethers accompany the transition from mountain summer to autumn. From live music and traditional sounds to culinary offerings from the region, the Stubai Valley shows its enjoyable and authentic side during the two autumn months. The combination of nature, culture and regional products creates numerous opportunities to consciously experience the special atmosphere of the season.

Sporting highlight in front of the Kalkkögel-mountain range

On Saturday, 26 September, the third edition of the Kalkkögeltrail in Telfes will provide sporting variety within the autumn highlights. Against the striking backdrop of the so-called “Dolomites of North Tyrol”, there are several routes for different levels to choose from. The demanding K42 Marathon Run will also host the Austrian State Championship in the Trail Marathon this year. The range is complemented by the new K30 and the K18 and K10 routes. Children’s and a charity run make the event an experience for different generations even away from the long distances.
