The 8th Imst Cycle Marathon

Last updated on 11.03.2024

If you want to conquer the mountains on a racing bike this year, the 8th Imst Cycle Marathon on 12 May 2024 is the ideal start to the season. This sporting event, set against the breathtaking backdrop of the Tyrolean Alps, is the first step towards your peak performance. Visitors are also drawn to Imst because of the lively atmosphere at the start and finish, as well as the diverse supporting programme.

The Imst Outdoor Region is well-known for its Alpine idyll and breathtaking mountain scenery with rocks, meadows, forests, and lakes. Imst is at the centre of the Alpine roads. Road bike tours through the pristine Tyrolean countryside offer a good training workload, substantial elevation gains and diverse routes set against a stunning mountain backdrop. This is another reason why the Imst Cycle Marathon holds a special place in the cycling calendar as the earliest cycle marathon in the German-speaking world.

Road cyclists can test their performance on three different routes with varying levels of difficulty. Will it be enough for route A, on which participants cover 110 kilometres and challenging 2300 metres of elevation gain? For those who aren’t ready to conquer 1000 metres of elevation gain over ten kilometres at the Sattele at Haimingerberg, there is the option of a more leisurely 90 kilometres on route B or 70 kilometres on the panoramic route. There is still plenty of time to fine-tune your skills over the spring.

Cycling adventures for everyone

In its new appearance and with a new logo, the Imst Cycle Marathon 2024 will also excite all spectators cheering on the cyclists along the route. The event is accompanied by an attractive sports programme, including training days with guides, a film festival and a mechanic workshop.

Bike Adventure Day

On the day before the race, 11 May 2024, the Bike Adventure Day takes place, a highlight also for children. Their skills are put to the test on the bike course, and with fun and games revolving around cycling, anticipation for the marathon builds up. Also on 11 May, a cycling-in event on a section of the cycle marathon route takes place, accompanied by a guide. Organiser Frank Rietzler from Radsportevents Tirol is looking forward to the 8th Imst Cycle Marathon, full of outstanding athletic performances and many cheering guests at the start and finish lines. High-quality prizes await participants in all age categories, along with the coveted golden challenge cup and a raffle. For more information, visit www.imster-radmarathon.at.

From leisurely to fast-paced – the outdoor summer in Imst

The Imst Cycle Marathon kicks off the road cycling season, and the Imst Outdoor Region is also all about summer. And that means: thrills meet natural beauty. In sport climbing you ascend impressive rock formations, while in paragliding, you descend in the face of the peaks. Foaming white water is tamed during rafting or canyoning adventures. Adrenaline rushes through your veins during a ride on the Alpine Coaster, the longest Alpine rollercoaster in the world. Those opting for a more leisurely pace will be equally rewarded in the Imst Outdoor Region: Countless hiking trails lead through wild and romantic gorges and tranquil forests. The history of earth becomes tangible in the Rosengarten Gorge. And thanks to the Imst Mountain Lifts, altitude can be conquered comfortably and especially family-friendly. Nevertheless, you can still indulge in the Kaiserschmarrn pancakes at one of the rustic mountain huts.
