After the Alpine Ski World Championships, it’s time for the Freeride World Tour (FWT). From March 7 to 13, 2025, Fieberbrunn becomes the mecca for freeride fans from around the globe. As the only tour stop in the German-speaking region, the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn once again proves its top competence in freeride sports.

Over the years, the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn has established itself as one of the premier freeride areas, especially with the spectacular runs of the 2,118-meter-high Wildseeloder. Here at the Freeride World Tour, the best big mountain snowboarders and skiers gather to qualify for the grand finale in Verbier, Switzerland. “What began two decades ago with a vision from six locals in PillerseeTal has since become an international success story. Fieberbrunn has evolved into an indispensable hotspot of the freeride world, and this tour stop once again signals the region’s immense development and extraordinary potential,” says Markus Kogler, Safety Chief of the FWT stop in Fieberbrunn.

FWT Pro Competition on March 8, 2025

In addition to the Juniors Competition, the FWT Pro Competition, taking place within a designated weather window from March 8 to 13, will be the absolute highlight. Competitors will showcase their best runs in a Best-of-Two format on the steep, rocky north faces of the Wildseeloder. In this special competition format, athletes have two attempts, with only the better run counting towards the final result.

Austria’s hope Valentin Rainer leads overall standings

Among Austrian athletes, Valentin Rainer, FWT World Champion 2023, is a favorite for the world title. His 4th place finish at the last tour stop in Kicking Horse, Canada, not only secured valuable points but also the top spot in the overall standings. German competitors also have high hopes for the Fieberbrunn tour stop: Timm Schröder (Snowboard), Tiemo Rolshoven (Ski), and Lena Kohler (Ski) are among the strong competitors with good chances for top placements.

Entertainment for everyone

The Freeride World Tour in Fieberbrunn is not only a highlight for athletes but also for spectators. From March 7 to 9, the Event Village at the Fieberbrunn transforms into a hub for freeride fans, offering a diverse program with free entry: live music, DJ sounds, ski tests, exhibitor booths, as well as opening and award ceremonies. To experience the world’s best freeriders up close, spectators can access the free ski area from the Lärchfilzkogel mountain station to the finish area at Wildalmen. Here, they can enjoy the vibrant Contest Village – with DJs, live commentary, delicious food and drinks, and a relaxed atmosphere.

Fieberbrunn: The freeride capital of the Alps

Perfect snow conditions, varied terrain, and professional infrastructure have established Fieberbrunn as an internationally recognized freeride mecca. The region’s long-standing tradition demonstrates the sport’s deep roots here and the significance of Fieberbrunn as a venue for the Freeride World Tour. The Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn also boasts 270 kilometers of slopes and 70 lifts, making it one of the largest and most modern ski areas in the Alps. A highlight is the new Streubödenbahn in Fieberbrunn, a state-of-the-art 10-person gondola offering enhanced comfort and capacity, swiftly transporting skiers and freeriders alike to the Lärchfilzkogel with views of the Wildseeloder.
