Ginzling Winter Magic: Inviting. Intimate. Nature orientated.
Last updated on 12.01.2024
Inviting, intimate and nature orientated – are the special ingredients of Ginzling Winter Magic, which is opening its doors for the fourth time this year. The hidden winter idyll not far from Mayrhofen appeals to visitors with its more mellow manner, offering a wealth of winter activities that invite you to slow down and relax well away from the busy skiing areas.
The idyllically situated mountaineering village of Ginzling, at 1,000 m above sea level will be transformed into a fairytale snow paradise all over again this year. Mayrhofen-Hippach Tourism Association, together with Ginzling village council, Zillertal Alps Nature Park and local guesthouses have created Ginzling Winter Magic, which is an ideal alternative for those who prefer a more intimate winter atmosphere. Activities range from guided snowshoe hikes organised by the Nature Park, to guided ski touring and thrilling tobogganing parties and fast-paced snowtubing rides. Cross-country skiing fans are also well catered for in Ginzling, where they will find both skating and classic ski trails.
Hike up, savour some refreshments, toboggan back down
Great fun can also be had with a racy ride on rubber tyres on the Snowtubing course, which runs directly alongside the Floiten lift. Those who prefer classic tobogganing, on the other hand, are well catered for on the natural toboggan run, with its starting point at Tristenbachalm. This welcoming mountain cabin is also the perfect place to take a warming break, before hurtling back down to the valley through the crystal clear winter air. Those who don’t have their own toboggan, can hire one at Tristenbachalm.
Snowshoe tours through splendid fields of white
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the ski area, feel the snow crunch underfoot, fill your lungs with the clear winter air and enjoy watching the snow crystals glistening in the sun. The once-weekly guided snowshoe hikes from the Zillertal Alps Nature Park provide memorable moments of true bliss. Bookable via www.mayrhofen.at/winter-magic.
The first step is easy
Those who prefer to experience nature up close on skis should consider taking a guided ski tour. It doesn’t matter whether you have previous experience or not: anyone can try. The tour programme includes options for newcomers as well as for advanced skiers. All details about the ski touring programme in Ginzling are available online at mayrhofen.at/winter-magic.
Breathtaking mountain panorama and sheer silence
Ginzling cross-country ski run, with a total length of 6.7 km, has all the ingredients any enthusiastic cross-country skier could wish for – a perfectly groomed trail with a breathtaking mountain panorama as your backdrop, combined with just the sound of your swishing skis in the air. The entrance to the groomed classic and skating trail is located next to the Nature Park House.
Where many a “ski career” began
