Mayrhofen, 2025: Horbergbahn and Penkenbahn cable car commenced operations on 06.12.2024, the Ahornbahn and Möslbahn started shuttling up to the deep snow-covered Mountopolis in the Tyrolean Zillertal from 14.12.2024. This is the Mayrhofner Bergbahnen World of Adventure and THE place to be for your white winter dream. We have more than enough space to fulfil every winter fantasy: 142 kilometres of pistes and 60 modern lifts in the skiing areas of Ahorn, Penken, Finkenberg, Rastkogel and Eggalm, where beginners, pros and winter enthusiasts will find perfectly groomed slopes in varying degrees of difficulty, as well as numerous alternatives to classic skiing or snowboarding. Surrounded by magnificent three-thousand-meter peaks and far-reaching vistas in the heart of the Tyrolean mountains, your personal winter dream awaits! Have we aroused your interest?

Do you ski as far and fast as possible, or are you more of a pleasure skier? It doesn’t really matter, as the Zillertal delicacies taste equally delicious whatever your style and whenever you stop for a bite to eat. Do you love panoramic views, or are you a winter hiker? Family oriented, or lone traveller? Not important, because the mountain panorama exerts the same charm over all and sundry. Welcome, in whatever constellation you choose to arrive.
COOL: THRILLING WINTER FUN ON MOUNT PENKEN
When Mount Penken calls with its sporting challenges and varied fun on the slopes, you must go! Penken ski area is easily accessible with the Penkenbahn from Mayrhofen, the Horbergbahn from Schwendau and the Möslbahn at Hochschwendberg. Once at the top, the more daring can sample the delights of speed skiing down the legendary Harakiri – Austria’s steepest slope experience – with an eye-watering gradient of 78%. Those who doubt whether they are up to the challenge can sample the delights of the DevilsRun. The BlackAttack’s racy name says it all and a camera even measures and records your personal best time along the SkiMovie Run.
There is good reason why PenkenPark is considered one of the best snowparks in Europe. In fact, it even took the first place int the “Snowpark” category of the “Schneehöhen” ski resort test – one of the biggest operating service portals for skiers and snowboarders. Its five areas are not only frequented by the who’s who of the international freeskiing and snowboarding scene, but beginners can also practice tricks and stunts on the various kickers against the awesome backdrop of Mountopolis. NEW in Winter 2024/25: Have you always wanted to try out a FunCross? Then the motto is “Off to the legendary PenkenPark!”
Speed-hungry skiers can follow in the footsteps of ski stars from all over the world when they emulate the pros on the two permanent giant slalom courses at RacingParadise Unterberg. And those fancying just a spot of fun can let off steam on the FunRides. The special “Parcours” for skiers of every age features specially developed elements from boarder- and ski-cross for unlimited ski fun. You prefer things a little less racy? No problem, because families will find Albert’s Penken Tour on Mount Penken, an easy downhill run for kids with fun obstacles. The WinterHikingPath Penken from the top station of the Kombibahn to Penkenjoch and the WinterHikingPath BergWaldWeg from the mountain station of the Penkenbahn to the mid station of the Finkenberger Almbahnen offers a breathtaking view of the opposing Ahorn and showcases Penken’s very gentle side in impressive fashion.
EASY: RELAXING IN THE SNOW AND PLEASURE-CARVING ON MOUNT AHORN. OR PERHAPS YOU PREFER A SPORTY DOWNHILL RUN TO THE VALLEY?
You will find everything you need for a successful day filled with all that and more in the Ahorn ski area. Where Austria’s largest cable car, the Ahornbahn whisks snow-lovers straight up to the deeply snow-
covered and sunny AhornPlateau with its easy, wide blue and red slopes as well as child-friendly lifts. Perfect for all beginners, those returning to the sport and those who prefer to take things a little more leisurely. Exciting tranquillity for elegant carving awaits at Mount Ahorn, as well as winter delights with fabulous views, where you can replenish flagging energy levels on the sun terraces beneath snow-covered peaks. You can also chill out at the WhiteLounge SnowBar, where comfortable deck chairs, delicious drinks and lounge music invite you to relax and daydream.
But do beware: Mountopolis is also known for its challenging ValleyRun Ahorn! Encompassing a length of 5.5 km and over 1,300 meters in elevation difference, this black slope takes you all the way back down to the valley. You’re planning to work on your fitness levels? With pleasure! The Ahornbahn and the ValleyRun Ahorn open before all other lifts and slopes at 7.30 a.m., so early birds can indulge in morning sports on Mount Ahorn.
Thanks to gentle inclines, coordinative and motor skills for safe skiing can be learned over a series of waves, steep curves and bowls at FunRide Ahorn with its FamilyPark. Mascot AlbertAdler guarantees fun runs for all the little ones on the AlbertAdler Tour and the perfect snapshot from your skiing holiday with the AlbertAdler speed camera. Your photo then awaits at the bottom station of the 6SB Ebenwald, which you can easily download at home with your ski pass.
Non-skiers are well catered for too, as Mount Ahorn offers a wide range of leisure activities and ample space for exciting winter dreams: WinterHikingPath Filzenkogel promises a unique mountain experience with breathtaking views and an entry in the summit book at 2,227 metres above sea level. NEW in Winter 2024/25:
AlbertAdler AdventureTrail! It leads across the AhornPlateau past the ViewingPlatform Zillertal towards the new location of the Eagle’s StageAhorn at the FalknerOase in the middle of the Filzen reservoir and back to the Ahornbahn mountain station. This promising WinterHikingPath on Mount Ahorn offers spectacular views including three highlights with wow factor at the end of the tour: hike the newly created FalkenSteig trail, marvel at the fantastic panorama on the free-floating, over 60-metre-long GreifenBrücke bridge and climb the ViewingPlatform AdlerAuge! But don’t miss out on a stop at the Eagle’s Stage Ahorn right next to the FalknerOase – here you can marvel at the birds of prey of the Eagle’s Stage Ahorn at their residence and, with a bit of luck, even get a snapshot with the majestic animals at the Eagle’s Stage “Meet & Greet” (weather-related changes possible, closed on Saturday). By the way, the Eagle’s Stage Ahorn can not only be “hiked” by pedestrians, it can also be reached by skiers. Those out and about on Mount Ahorn with winter hiking boots or in need of a fun break from skiing, will find the ideal diversion in Mountopolis with PistenBock tobogganing fun on a specially designed course. Even more fun is guaranteed at the AlbertAdler PlayWorld by Ravensburger next to the mountain station of the Ahornbahn. An exciting and varied indoor game world was created in a collaborative venture with Ravensburger on an area covering around 140 m². Equipped with a climbing wall, playhouse, listening stations, giant puzzles and many more. Guided cable car tours on the Ahornbahn, on the other hand, are exciting and technical and where technology buffs really get their money’s worth. Here, visitors are given a glimpse behind the scenes of Austria’s largest cable car and exciting facts such as the conveyance capacity, volume of concrete and number of columns required for its construction are revealed (every Sunday at 10.30 a.m., German only). PENKEN & AHORN – WHICH ONE IS YOURS?
Two adventure mountains and 1,000 possibilities for skiing pleasure and true winter fun. No matter what you are looking for, you will find it in Mountopolis. The 2024/2025 event calendar is also well filled: Mayrhofner Bergbahnen invite you to the start of the season with the Woman FIS Europa Cup race and the SkiTestival on 07. and 08.12.2024. Here you have the opportunity to test the latest skiing equipment in terms of surface, edges and skiing performance free of charge. Thrilling action continues with the Burton Step on Testride from 03. to 05.01.2025, the Austria Snowpark Day on 05.01.2025 and the GromsOpen Rookie Fest on 06.01.2025. You can also look forward to the legendary Penken Battle on 09.02.2025 and the Välley Rälley from 08. to 09.03.2025. NEW in Winter 2024/25: the BURTON Mystery Series on 23.03.2025. However, these are only a few events of the upcoming winter season, before you’ll have to buckle up for the Grand Finale of yet another successful winter in Mayrhofen: get ready for the Full Metal Mayrhofen Festival from 30.03. to 05.04.2025 and do not miss the unique and vibrating Snowbombing Festival from 07.04. to 12.04.2025.

Mayrhofner Bergbahnen Facts
The Mayrhofner Bergbahnen comprises of the Ahornbahn, Penkenbahn, Horbergbahn and Möslbahn and have been awarded the “5-star ski resort” seal of approval for the fourth time in a row by skiresort.de, the world’s largest test portal for ski resorts. The Ahornbahn is Austria’s largest cable car and transports visitors to 2.000 metres above sea level in less than 7 minutes. Equipped with gigantic panoramic glass fronts, it offers unique views of Mayrhofen and the surrounding mountains. The ultra-modern 3S Penkenbahn, also equipped with panoramic windows and additional WLAN in its 33 gondolas, whisks you directly from the town centre to an altitude of almost 1.800 metres in just 8.2 minutes.
The Mayrhofen-Hippach holiday region has an extensive ski bus network for convenient access to the cable cars. Use of the ski bus is free.
