Kufsteinerland, TyrolThe new bike route over the Dreibrunnenjoch creates an attractive connection between the Inn Cycle Path and the mountainous landscape of the Thiersee Valley. The route closes an important gap within one of the largest contiguous mountain bike networks between Austria and Germany, while also connecting two popular natural swimming lakes in the region.

The new forest trail runs 4.6 kilometers over the Dreibrunnenjoch, climbing 240 meters in elevation, and for the first time enables a comfortable ascent from the Inn Valley into the Thiersee high valley. This creates a direct connection from the heavily used Inn Cycle Path to the existing cycling network in the Thiersee Valley.

From the Inn Cycle Path to the Mountain Landscape

The new connection offers mountain bikers and ambitious touring cyclists a wide range of touring options between valley and mountain landscapes. From Thiersee, the routes continue into the Bavarian trail network toward Schliersee and Tegernsee, as well as back to the Tyrolean lowlands via the Achensee. At the same time, the route improves access to Kufstein’s local mountain, the Pendling, and its tourist infrastructure.

The travel time over the Dreibrunnenjoch is about 35 minutes by bicycle or 20 to 25 minutes by e-bike.

Exercise and Relaxation Along the Route

Particularly attractive is the connection between two natural swimming lakes, which serve as the starting and ending points of the tour. The Stimmersee in Langkampfen and the Thiersee offer opportunities for cooling off and relaxation, combining physical activity with a nature experience. The route runs primarily through forested terrain and offers pleasant conditions for cyclists and hikers even on warm summer days.

The new connection not only expands the regional trail network but also sustainably strengthens the link between the cycling infrastructure in the valley and the recreational and nature offerings in the high valley.
