New challenges and spectacular views at the Stubai Ultratrail 2024

Last updated on 18.06.2024

The Stubai Ultratrail powered by SCOTT, the prestigious trail running event in the Tyrolean Alps, will take place for the seventh time on 29 June 2024 and will once again bring exciting innovations. On the one hand, the Stubai K15 Sunnenseit’n Trail, a circular course that will take place on 28 June. On the other hand, the slightly adapted route on the long distance, where the first 25 kilometres from the start in Innsbruck this time lead via the villages of Mutters and Natters into the Stubai Valley.

Until Monday, June 24, 2024, interested trail runners can register online at www.stubai-ultratrail.com for one of the five routes of the Stubai Ultratrail. Late registrations are also still possible on site. There are already quite a few repeat offenders. In addition to athletes competing for main sponsor SCOTT, the two-time winner of the Stubai Ultratrail and local hero Christian Stern from Neustift will also be present. So it will be particularly exciting for him to see whether he can complete the hat-trick.

A new route full of adventure

The newly introduced Stubai K15 Sunnenseit’n Trail is a challenge for endurance athletes who want to experience the beauty of the Stubai Valley from a new perspective. The route covers 15 kilometers and offers challenging climbs as well as spectacular views, which are crowned by crossing the spectacular suspension bridge. “This new route will undoubtedly become one of the highlights of the event and will give the runners unforgettable moments,” the organizers say.

A race that requires more than just stamina

The classic distance, the Stubai Ultratrail K67, starts in the Olympic city of Innsbruck and leads the runners over 67 kilometres and 5,000 metres in altitude to the finish at the Eisgrat mountain station on the Stubai Glacier. What is new this time is that the first 25 kilometers lead via the Bergisel ski jump to Natters, up to the Muttereralm and the Birgitzköpfelhaus on to the so-called Halsl to the Schlickeralm. “The Stubai Ultratrail surprises us every year anew. The new track sounds like a real adventure and I’m looking forward to experiencing it,” explains Christian Stern, who has already confirmed his participation in the title defense. “The Stubai Ultratrail is not only a physical challenge, but also a mental test. Always a fight, but the prospect of the hattrick gives me additional motivation,” the athlete is enthusiastic about the innovations.

SCOTT reaffirms its commitment

SCOTT, partner of the Stubai Ultratrail, remains loyal to the event this year. “We are proud to be part of the Stubai Ultratrail again,” says Julian Oswald from SCOTT. “This event embodies the values of endurance and performance that we want to support with our products. It’s about pushing boundaries and fostering the community of trail runners.” “Participating in the Stubai Ultratrail is a matter close to my heart. I got to know and love the Stubai Valley during many training runs. I am particularly excited about the introduction of the Sunnenseit’n Trail, which makes the event even more attractive for participants and spectators,” explains Florian Beck, athlete from SCOTT.

Five distances for every skill level

The five routes of the Stubai Ultratrail have something for endurance athletes as well as for ambitious trail runners and trail newcomers. At the classic distance, the Stubai Ultratrail K67, the participants start at 1 a.m. in the Olympic city of Innsbruck. Then it goes over 67 kilometers through the night to the finish at the 2,960-meter-high Eisgrat mountain station on the Stubai Glacier. Three shorter races, also with a finish on the glacier, as well as the new STUBAI K15 Sunnenseit’n Trail round off the program.

The future of trail running in the Stubai Valley

“We are always striving to continuously improve the trail running experience and present the natural beauty of the Stubai Valley in a way that becomes more exciting from year to year for both runners and visitors. With spectacular routes that lead through picturesque landscapes and at the same time offer demanding physical challenges. Just as it should succeed with the new Kalkkögel Trail in autumn,” explains Adrian Siller, chairman of the Stubai Tirol Tourism Association.
