The New Gampenbahn: World Record and Unique Design
The newly constructed Gampenbahn lets winter sports enthusiasts enjoy a very quiet and comfortable, world-record lift up to the Palinkopf this season. The old, quad chair lift (the longest lift in Austria when it was built) was disassembled after 30 years and replaced by the newest-generation, coupled 6-seat lift designed by Doppelmayr with a capacity of 2,800 persons per hour. Record: Rising for 924 meters, the Gampenbahn handles the greatest elevation difference by a coupled 6-seat covered lift in the world. From the access booth up to the premium seat upholstery, everything was fully redesigned in the very low noise/low vibration Gampenbahn. Highlight of the 122 new 6-seat chairs: The back sides of the extra-wide (52 cm), ergonomically shaped and heated seats are covered with images of chamois, marmot and all the animals common to the surrounding mountain world. And so every seat is unique. Optimum safety lock bar is included. The Gampenbahn valley station (1,924 meters) is in the middle of the Silvretta Arena in what is called the Fimba. From there, the lift brings winter sports enthusiasts up the world record 924 meters elevation and 21 towers in about 8 minutes to the Gampenbahn mountain station at 2,848 meters. And that is the top of the Palinkopf, one of the most beautiful and highest bowls in the ski area. With the new cable run, four of the former towers were eliminated. The old quad lift managed about 13 million passengers over 30 years in Ischgl, and it too, has found a new home. In the town of Taras in Kazakhstan. Ischgl Slopefood and Gampenalpe: Two New Restaurants in the Ski Area
At the beginning of the ski season, winter sports enthusiasts will find two new, and stylistically very different dining opportunities around the new Gampenbahn. A new, stylish self-serve restaurant was integrated right into the Gampenbahn valley station. The design motto of the new restaurant with the appropriate name of “Ischgl Slopefood” is: The ski area comes into the restaurant. Here the orders are placed in a “streetfood” style and the food, such as burgers, for example, is handed over from a gondola. The lamps resemble the bars of a button lift. Anyone wanting classical service in a cozy cabin atmosphere will be at home in the new Gampenalpe, with its traditional, regional Tyrolian kitchen. The newly constructed, rustic ski lodge has seating for more than 100 patrons, is located at 1,990 meters elevation, and is about 400 m from the new Gampenbahn valley station and is right on the red ski run No. 40.
