Partying and sports closely linked at the Stubai winter events

Exercise and enjoyment are top priorities in the Stubai Valley. The winter events in the glacier valley near Innsbruck will take the matching offer to the extreme. Traditionally, the Stubai Glacier will start the season with the “Weiße Wies’n” Ski Oktoberfest, followed by spectacular sports events like the FIS Freeski Slopestyle World Cup. The Schlick 2000 Skiing Centre celebrates its birthday with fiery, colourful event highlights. For instance with the “Night of Colours” ski shows and especially with the first Winter BBQ Challenge “SKI & BBQ STUBAI 2020”. The Elferbahnen put their tobogganing offer to the test and five winter hiking nights – one even on the mountain of the Serlesbahnen itself – invite guests to enjoy sportive and epicurean pleasures amidst snow-covered landscapes.

Beer pretzels, jumps and powder snow
Whether skiers are already in form for the new season can be proven at the “Weiße Wies’n” event on the Stubai Glacier. Guests rocking up at the Ski-Oktoberfest between 12 to 13 October in their Oktoberfest outfit, i.e. wearing a Dirndl or Lederhosen when having fun on the slopes, will receive 50% discount on the one-day ski pass. Beer tapping, live music and all sorts of typical Oktoberfest delicacies can then be found around the Eisgrat Summit Station.

The Snowpark DC Stubai Zoo is just a gondola ride away. There, kickers and rails will be prepared forming a demanding slopestyle course for the third edition of the FIS Freeski World Cup Stubai. From 21 to 23 November, the international Who-is-Who of the freeski scene will again gather at the Stubai Glacier, guaranteeing both excitement and spectacular action.

Freestyle and freeride will also be on the agenda at the first Powder Department Family Days on 22 and 23 February. With state-certified mountain and ski guides, the first day will take you out into the terrain. In a playful way, young freeriders and their parents will be taught how to use avalanche transponders, probes and shovels. On the second day, freestyle coaches will guide and supervise the kids at the Snowpark DC Stubai Zoo, where they will master their first small obstacles and jumps as well as perform cool tricks in the snow.

60 years Schlick 2000, reason to celebrate!
Happy Birthday Schlick 2000! 60 years ago the Schlick 2000 Skiing Centre was opened in Fulpmes. The 2019/2020 winter season is therefore clearly dominated by this anniversary. The festivities comprise a winter warm-up at the Kreuzjoch Summit Station on 7 December as well as the colourful “Night of Colours” ski shows, which start on 26 December and are then staged seven more times at the Froneben Intermediate Station.

The event cycle, however, will definitely culminate in the big, unprecedented pleasure challenge that will take place in the skiing resort from 13 to 15 March. As part of the very first SKI & BBQ SCHLICK 2000 – STUBAI WINTER BBQ CHAMPIONSHIPS 2020, six international top BBQ teams will compete at six different lodges in the Schlick 2000 area between Friday and Sunday. In addition to an expert jury, the opinion of the many epicureans, who can taste the magical specialities in exchange for vouchers, will be of particular importance. It will be interesting to see, who will win the title of Stubai BBQ Champion first!

Fun events with a bang
It goes without saying that children and families are perfectly entertained in the Stubai Valley, which is well known for its child-friendly atmosphere.

The event highlight for all young guests is the pre-New Year’s Eve party at Lake Kampler See on 29 Dec. 2019. With fascinating mythical creatures, cool DJ music and a brilliant fire show, the Stubai Valley will ring in and celebrate the New Year in advance.
