Registration opens for Stubai Ultratrail 2021

The date for the 4th edition of the STUBAI ULTRAITRAIL has been set: 3 July 2021, and the registration for it is already open.
Good news for all trailrunners keen to get back on track in 2021! Following the cancellation of the 2020 event due to Coronavirus, the date for the fourth edition of the STUBAI ULTRAITRAIL has been set: 3 July 2021. Starting in the heart of Innsbruck and finishing at 3,150 metres above sea level, the course takes runners from city to glacier. To give everyone plenty of time to get ready for what is one of the most beautiful and spectacular trail runs in the Alps, registration will open almost exactly one year before the event, on Saturday 4 July. This is also the day when the 2020 edition of the Stubai Ultratrail should, in theory, have taken place.
The hard work carried out by the organising team ahead of the planned 2020 race, including repairs and improvements to a brand new section of the course, means there is not much left to do ahead of 2021. This new trail connects three idyllic mountain huts and leads through cool forests with fine views of the Stubai Alps.
The fourth edition of the event with the tagline city2glacier on 3 July 2021 will once again feature four different courses. The shortest is the eight-kilometre-long Stubai K8 and the longest is the full 67-kilometre run from Innsbruck to the glacier, the Stubai Ultratrail K67, with 5,356 vertical metres of elevation gain. In between those two there is the Stubai K20 with a distance of over 19 kilometres and 2,138 vertical metres of elevation gain as well as the Stubai K32 with a distance of 32 kilometres and 3,100 vertical metres of elevation gain. While each of the four courses is a different length and has a different amount of climbing, they all share the same spectacular finish line next to the Jochdohle restaurant on the Stubai Glacier.
It is this final ascent, which is the trademark of the Stubai Ultratrail. Starting at the bottom of the cable car in Mutterberg at 1,756 metres above sea level, runners must complete a series of twisting switchbacks leading up past the Dresdner Hütte and onto the glacier, topping out at the finish line next to the Jochdohle restaurant at 3,150 metres above sea level. This final climb is just eight kilometres in length but has a leg-burning 1,400 vertical metres of elevation gain. The scenery is breath-taking and inspires runners to dig deep for that final push to the line. “The Stubai Ultratrail is a sporting challenge but at the same time one of the most beautiful trailruns in the world with an emotional arrival high on the glacier,” confirmed the winners of the men’s and women’s races in 2019, Kristin Berglund and Cristofer Clemente.
