Red, round and crisp: The Radish Festival in Hall in Tirol
Last updated on 08.04.2026
A festival – just to celebrate the radish? A bit over the top, don’t you think? Not at all, when you’re right in the heart of Austria’s largest radish-growing region and, like us, absolutely smitten with this little, red, round vegetable.
The Radish Festival in Hall traditionally heralds the arrival of spring and the start of the fresh vegetable season, as these red tubers are the first signs of spring in local vegetable growing.

Radish Festival in Hall in Tirol
Saturday, 25 April 2026, 10 am to 4 pm, Bachlechnerstraße in the old town of Hall in Tirol
At 10 am on Saturday, the old town of Hall will be transformed into a festive stage: the brass band and the Jungschuhplattler folk dancers from Thaur, together with the local vegetable farmers, will parade from Stiftsplatz via the Upper Town Square to the Town Hall. This colourful procession will be accompanied by historic Massey Ferguson vintage tractors and lovingly decorated radish floats. The official opening will be performed by the mayors of Hall and Thaur with the traditional tapping of the free beer barrel, energetically supported by Radish Princess Anna.
What’s on offer to eat at the Radish Festival?
The farmers of Thaur will be providing refreshments with a selection of spring delicacies. Alongside radish burgers and radish soup, there will be traditional Kiachl and tempting, homemade cakes. In addition, Tiroler Biopilze will be showcasing further high-quality culinary specialities from the region. A special highlight is the giant radish loaf from Therese Mölk’s bakery: baked in XXL tins, the loaf is delivered by lorry and topped on site by volunteers from the Thaur Social Association with organic mountain butter, fresh radishes and cress. The proceeds from the sale go directly to people and families in need.

Haller Radish Festival Children’s Programme
The supporting programme also has something for everyone. In the Old Town Park, young visitors can look forward to an exciting children’s programme featuring a sensory obstacle course, a vegetable carving station and a variety of games organised by the children’s events agency NiMa’s.

Music at the Haller Radish Festival
The morning gets off to a musical start with a mix of lively brass band music from the Thaur Band and various dance performances by the Jungschuhplattler group. From 1 pm, the Blechpatrioten from Rum will take centre stage. Performing in the original line-up of ‘Die kleinen Egerländer’, the eight musicians will entertain the audience until 4 pm with their own Bohemian-Moravian compositions, timeless classics, polkas, waltzes and well-known hits.
