Five-Star Ski Resort and Awarded as an Environmentally Friendly Ski Resort
The SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental has once again secured its place among the world’s leading ski resorts in 2026. The world’s largest ski resort review platform, Skiresort, has once again awarded SkiWelt its highest rating of five stars. SkiWelt has also received the award in the Environmentally Friendly Ski Resort category.
These accolades reflect the consistent direction SkiWelt has taken over many years. Sustainability, quality, and innovation are at the heart of its long-term development and firmly embedded in the resort’s philosophy. The awards demonstrate that responsible management and outstanding skiing can go hand in hand.

FIVE STARS FOR QUALITY AND MODERN INFRASTRUCTURE
The renewed five-star rating highlights our consistently high standards across all key assessment criteria. Particularly praised were our resort’s 275 kilometres of perfectly maintained pistes, the wide variety of runs for skiers of all abilities, the excellent slope grooming, and 81 state-of-the-art lift facilities. The judges also recognised the easy accessibility via car, train and airplane; parking facilities; high standards of cleanliness and hygiene; and the diverse culinary offering across its 80 mountain huts.

SUSTAINABILITY IS PART OF SKIWELT’S DNA
Another major milestone followed in 2024, with the opening of the new eight-seater chairlift in Scheffau. It is recognised as the highest-capacity eight-seater chairlift in the world. Equipped with its own photovoltaic system, the lift generates around 50% of its own electricity requirements, making it one of the world’s most sustainable ropeway installations.
SkiWelt has also made significant progress towards sustainable energy production in Söll. Thanks to its own small-scale hydropower plant, the local lift company now generates around 25 per cent of its annual electricity demand. During the summer season, the hydropower plant supplies 100% of the operation’s electricity needs.
Since summer 2025, the SkiWelt lift companies have also participated in regional energy communities. Instead of feeding surplus electricity into the public grid, the power generated is shared directly with other SkiWelt partners whenever it is needed. This keeps renewable energy within the region and ensures it is used where it delivers the greatest benefit.

“Using resources as efficiently as possible, while investing in the latest technologies for renewable energy generation and storage, is central to our long-term vision,” says Andreas Haselsberger, Managing Director of Bergbahn Scheffau and spokesperson for the SkiWelt lift companies. ‘Our goal is to become an energy-independent SkiWelt, and we are well on our way to achieving it.”
