Stubai Wild Ride 26: Successful second edition

Last updated on 18.04.2026

On Saturday, April 18, 2026, the Stubai Wild Ride took place for the second time under the motto “Epic Rides. Epic Valley.” on the Stubai Glacier. The six-kilometre giant slalom with around 160 gates was fully booked and represented the ultimate challenge in skiing for 340 participants from the professional and hobby sectors. Franziska Gritsch won the women’s race and Roland Leitinger won the men’s race.

Strong second edition with perfect mood

The second edition of the Stubai Wild Ride also proved to be a complete success. The extended contingent of starting places has been fully utilized. The race with the mixture of professional athletes and ambitious hobby skiers could be held in bright sunshine and with grippy snow conditions. Along the entire route and in the finish area at the middle station, there was an excellent atmosphere with live transmission of the course and DJ sound. The team classification, which was integrated for the first time, was also well received and complemented the sporting character of the race.

Impressive results for women and men

In the women’s classification, professional skier Franziska Gritsch prevailed with a respectable lead of more than seven seconds and celebrated victory in her first start. “It was my first time and I was thrilled by the course. It is varied and requires strength and stamina. A really cool run,” said Gritsch. Behind her, the two local heroes Valentina Pfurtscheller and last year’s winner Magdalena Ranalter took second and third place.

Roland Leitinger triumphed in the men’s race, taking the lead with a strong run. Thomas Rainer and Hannes Endstrasser, who were already on the podium last year, finished second and third this time. Leitinger was visibly satisfied: “I was already there last year and just not among the top three. It feels great to be able to be at the top this time and I’m very happy about first place.”

Satisfied conclusion and a look ahead

The organizer, the Stubai Tirol Tourism Association, also draws a consistently positive conclusion. Adrian Siller, chairman of the Tourist Board is grateful and proud: “We are enormously pleased that the second edition was so successful. My thanks go to the entire team, the many helpers and the Stubai Glacier as a strong partner. The Stubai Wild Ride has become a fixed point in spring skiing and will certainly be a special highlight again next year.”

The anticipation for the next edition is already great: The Stubai Wild Ride 2027 will take place on
10 April 2027 on the Stubai Glacier.
