The motorbiking paradise of Paznaun
30 Alpine passes in the immediate surroundings, a motorbike test center with the latest models of the season and perfect infrastructure for motorbike riders make Paznaun the ideal starting point for magnificent Alpine tours from May to October.
From May to October, Paznaun and its communities of Galtür, Ischgl, Kappl and See form the ideal starting point for some fascinating motorbiking tours in the Alps: 30 passes in the surrounding area and day tours covering between 200 and 365 km across four countries set the pulse of any motorbiking fan racing! The highlights of Paznaun’s motorbiking summer include the ‘High-Bike Testcenter Paznaun’ which is open from 1 June to 30 September 2017 and the traditional ‘Top of the Mountain BIKER SUMMIT’ from 21 to 23 July 2017.
Paznaun is a real paradise for motorbike riders: there are 30 Alpine passes in the immediate surroundings of the Austria/Switzerland/Italy region alone. Day tours covering between 200 and 365 km even extend as far as Bavaria. Motorbikes and bikers alike can show what they are made of over each kilometre and the thousands of bends along the way. The Silvretta High Alpine Road, the Arlberg Pass, the Timmelsjoch, the Kaunertal Glacier, the Furka Pass and the Säntis Round are among the most spectacular motorbiking destinations in the Alps. The backdrop of the beautiful circular tours is composed of striking mountains, sparkling glaciers, glittering Alpine lakes and landscapes which change with altitude. The available infrastructure (the ‘High-Bike Testcenter Paznaun’ and lots of hotels and guesthouses adapted to the special requirements of motorbike riders) also makes Paznaun’s four communities perfect for a motorbiking holiday.
At home at the foot of the Silvretta High Alpine Road
Paznaun’s own local route, the Silvretta High Alpine Road, is the gateway to the high-altitude mountains: from Galtür, the route leads up to the Bielerhöhe and Silvretta reservoir at 2,032m. Here, the mountain pass road flattens out briefly, offering views of the breath-taking glacier world of the main Alpine ridge. With a maximum gradient of 12%, the road continues on west down to Montafon in Vorarlberg. The route from Galtür to Partenen in Montafon covers a total of 22.3 km and 34 bends.
Savings tip: Guests who stay in Paznaun can travel on the Silvretta High Alpine Road for free with the Silvretta Card all inclusive and will also receive discounts on bike hire at the ‘High-Bike Testcenter Paznaun’.
