Tirol is ready to welcome the cream of the world’s winter sports crop and play host to a series of thrilling competitions. The region holds special allure to not only mountain enthusiasts, but also the international sporting elite. The winter sports calendar for 2024/25 promises yet another wealth of highlights, with some of the world’s best athletes competing in a wide range of disciplines. Here are some of the most exciting sporting events in the upcoming winter season in Tirol:

AUDI FIS Ski World Cup Opening Sölden • 26th to 27th October 2024
Winter will officially begin for the 31st time in Sölden with the AUDI FIS Ski World Cup Opening on Rettenbach Glacier. The world’s best skiers will kick off the new season with two giant slalom events at the end of October – starting with the women on Saturday, followed by the men on Sunday. Tickets for this year’s event are already available..

FIS Freeski World Cup Stubai • 20th to 23rd November 2024
The FIS Freeski World Cup will be held on the Stubai Glacier for the eighth time in 2024, attracting around 90 athletes from 20 nations to Tirol. The scene’s elite will be in attendance, including Olympic and world champions who will showcase their slopestyle skills in the Snowpark Stubai Zoo and battle it out for the first World Cup points of the season.

AUDI FIS Ski World Cup Gurgl • 23rd to 24th November 2024
After last year’s hugely successful inaugural event, the AUDI FIS Ski World Cup 2024 will take place once again in Gurgl in the Ötztal Valley. The ladies will open the slalom weekend on Saturday on the challenging Kirchenkar slope in Hochgurgl, before the men take to the starting line on Sunday. The event also includes exclusive evening soirees at the Gurgl Carat in Obergurgl and offers audiences a varied supporting programme. The World Cup will once again be held under the ‘Green Events Austria’ seal of quality, thus guaranteeing environmentally friendly event management principles.

Eberspächer Luge World Cup & Eberspächer Team Relay presented by BMW • 7th to 8th December 2024
After intensive periods of preparation, Austria’s top lugers will be showcasing their skills on their home track – the Luge and Team Relay World Cup is returning to the artificially-iced track in Innsbruck-Igls. The men and women will compete on 14 challenging twists and turns of Igls bobsleigh track, competing in the men’s and women’s singles, doubles and team relay events. The event offers a thrilling atmosphere with spectacular show interludes for the audience.

BMW IBU Biathlon World Cup Hochfilzen • 13th to 15th December 2024
An undisputed highlight in the Biathlon calendar and a sensational draw for the Pillerseetal region: the Biathlon World Cup in Hochfilzen, where the world’s finest biathletes meet to compete in the sprint, pursuit and the men’s and women’s relay. Fans can once again look forward to some exciting races and an impressive supporting programme in the Kitzbühel Alps in December 2024.

Bergisel Ski Jump Innsbruck • 3rd to 4th January 2025
Bergisel Ski Jump, as part of the 73rd Four Hills Tournament, is recognised as one of the outstanding sporting events at the start of the year and traditionally takes place in Innsbruck in early January. Fans will once again witness impressive jumps by the world’s best ski jump-ers. The unique atmosphere in the spectator-packed stadium, breathtaking view of Innsbruck and majestic mountain backdrop make this event an unforgettable experience for all spectators.

AUDI FIS Women’s Ski World Cup St. Anton am Arlberg • 11th to 12th January 2025
The AUDI FIS Women’s Ski World Cup in St. Anton am Arlberg guarantees high-octane excitement in the spectator stands. The world’s best female athletes will demonstrate their prowess on the challenging Karl Schranz racecourse in the downhill and super-G events, competing for valuable podium places. A thrilling atmosphere in the finish area and a varied supporting programme await fans at the traditional Kandahar Race.

85th International Hahnenkamm Races Kitzbühel • 20th to 26th January 2025
The 85th International Hahnenkamm Race in Kitzbühel is undoubtedly one of the highlights of the men’s skiing calendar. Fans can look forward to a thrilling programme: the eagerly awaited return of the super-G on Friday, followed by the legendary Streif downhill on Saturday, which is sure to get everyone’s heart racing. On Sunday, the best slalom skiers will com-pete in the exciting finale and showcase their skills in the last discipline of the event. A weekend full of nerve-tingling excitement and spectacular scenes!

FIS Nordic Combined Triple Seefeld • 31st January to 2nd February 2025
Seefeld will once again be transformed into the hotspot of Nordic skiing in early February 2025, as it hosts the twelfth edition of the Nordic Combined Triple. Double points are up for grabs for the world’s best Nordic combined athletes competing in what is considered one of the best cross-country skiing destinations in the Alps. After their successful debut two years ago, women will once again tackle the challenging competitions over two days in 2025. The special format ensures that the excitement never wanes for both athletes and fans – right up to the thrilling finale on Sunday.

Freeride World Tour Fieberbrunn • March 2025
In March, the Freeride World Tour will stop by once again in PillerseeTal, the only German speaking leg of the tour. As one of the most important events on the itinerary, Fieberbrunn challenges the freeride elite with demands presented by the steep and rock-strewn northern flanks of Mount Wildseeloder, where athletes plunge from the 2,118-metre-high summit down a slope with gradients of up to 70 degrees and 620 metres in elevation difference. The Event Village at Fieberbrunn cable car valley station will be buzzing with freeride vibes, live music, DJ sounds, ski tests, opening ceremonies and award shows. The public can experience the exciting contest at close quarters in the Contest Village at the Wildalmen.
