Christmas Magic at the Forest Festival Area – Mayrhofner Advent Returns
Last updated on 28.11.2024
The enchanting Mayrhofner Advent reopens its doors at the Forest Festival Area on 30th November, where inviting wood cabins, romantic candlelight, warming fire pits and festively decorated stalls await your visit. A beautiful programme featuring highlights such as the procession of St. Nicholaus and Baby Jesus, displays of traditional craftsmanship and musical performances by choirs, brass bands and vocal ensembles creates the special ambience that makes Mayrhofner Advent so very unique.
Mayrhofner Advent offers a welcome break from the hustle and bustle of the pre-Christmas season, when everyone is rushed off their feet and Christmas jingles are played on permanent repeat. Tucked away in Scheulingwald Forest, you will find an idyllic festival site where gentle candlelight and warming fireplaces radiate an oasis of calm and tranquillity on the weekends during Advent.
Festive start to Advent
Mayrhofen’s Advent season officially opens on Saturday, 30th November. This special evening will be accompanied by voices from Mayrhofen Men’s Choir and brass music by Brandberg Brass Band, followed by carols from the ”CHORrekt“ singers and Öxeltaler musicians.
Explore, browse and enjoy
Local exhibitors inspire with artistic handicrafts, lovingly designed gift ideas and culinary delicacies. Visitors can look forward to handmade Christmas tree decorations, artistic handicrafts, felt and knitwear, homemade biscuits, fresh bread and much more at the market stands. The irresistible aroma of mulled wine and freshly made Zillertal “Krapfen” doughnuts all contribute to the festive atmosphere.
Traditional sounds and Christmas melodies
Local choirs, singing groups and brass ensembles provide the musical setting. The ”Anklöpfler“ carol singers provide a special highlight – singers dressed as shepherds who announce the birth of Jesus with traditional song, breathing new life into an ancient custom.
Christmas magic for the young ones
Mayrhofner Advent also has plenty in store for the youngest visitors to discover and experience. Whether artfully decorating a ‘Mayrhofner Advent Angel’ in Kröll’s Advent bakery, sending Christmas wishes to Santa at the “Christkindl” post office, or meeting animals at the petting zoo, which is a firm favourite not only for the children.
Witness the historic art of blacksmithery
It was common to see a blacksmith at work in bygone days. Nowadays, it is a rarity. From 13th to 15th December 2024, the Kollreider blacksmiths, a married couple from Anras in East Tyrol, will be guests at Mayrhofner Advent with their historic travelling forge and demonstrate how red-hot iron is forged at the anvil during their exciting presentations.
#Mayrhofner Advent – capture memorable moments
A charmingly designed photo point, located between the stage and Kröll’s Advent Bakery, invites you to photograph special moments digitally and share them with your loved ones back home.
