Summer in the Mayrhofen-Hippach holiday region will be crammed full of events and their diversity is now greater than ever – ranging from multi-day open airs and unplugged concerts on the alpine meadows, to local farmers’ markets, trail running competitions and the festival of “boundless” friendship. Their sheer number is something to behold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mayrhofen-Hippach holiday region is considered the birthplace of Alpine tourism and is known for its wide range of leisure activities. This diversity is also reflected in its range of events. The event calendar is crammed full like never before and promises numerous exciting highlights. Whether musical, sporty, delicious or traditional – summer 2024 has it all.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blechlawine returns to Mayrhofen<\/strong>
The season gets off to a spectacular start with the multi-day Blechlawine Brass Music Festival<\/strong>, which takes place from 30th May to 2nd June<\/strong> at the \u201cWaldfestplatz\u201d Forest Festival Area in Mayrhofen. The multi-day event has become a \u201cred letter day” in the music calendar for many bands from near and far, as well as for Blechlawine fans who travel to Zillertal from home and abroad to enjoy the festival. No matter what genre: from Inntal, Oberkrainer and Egerl\u00e4nder folk to pop music – a feast for the ears is guaranteed.

But that’s not all! In addition to the multi-day festival, Blechlawine am Berg (Blechlawine on the mountain) takes place during the summer months, followed by a lively performance at Blechlawine im Dorf (Blechlawine in the village) in Mayrhofen on 21st September.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A new lease of life for singing at the inn<\/strong>
Breathing new life into an old tradition – Mayrhofen Men\u2019s Choir and the Rainer Quartett plan to do just that this summer. Both choirs are bringing traditional folk songs to life in local guesthouses, in keeping with the motto, \u201cWirtshaussingen – Singing at the Inn\u201d.<\/strong>

Music legends on stage<\/strong>
The popular Hooo Ruck am Berg<\/strong> concert series has become a popular fixture in the summer events calendar. Fiddle-playing grandpa, Erwin Aschenwald, and his “die Mayrhofner” band spread a lively atmosphere and good humour to the mountain huts in the holiday region with their music and singing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another highlight awaits lovers of folk music at the legendary Ursprung Buam Festival, which takes to the stage at the Waldfestplatz Forest Festival Area from 12th to 14th July<\/strong>, where the “Ursprung Buam” band promise a vibrant medley of songs to sing and dance along to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Discover the region\u2019s culinary delights<\/strong>
It’s not just music that has become a veritable institution in the Ziller Valley. The food enjoys an equally rich history and tradition. If you fancy going on a culinary journey of discovery, you should put the Schmankerlfest Food Festival in your dairy, which takes place in Hippach on 14th July. Locals and guests alike come together at this “festival for connoisseurs” to savour the delicacies on offer, freshly prepared by local associations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Culinary delicacies and regional products from local farmers are also offered at the weekly Farmers’ Market, which is held every Friday at Josef-Riedl-Platz in Mayrhofen. The traditional Hollenzer Dorffes<\/strong>t village festival on 8th September<\/strong> is another magnet for gourmets, where delicious traditional fare can be found.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ginzling\u2019s sporting highlights<\/strong>
Summer also has much to offer in terms of sport. The legendary Steinbock March\/Run on 17th August<\/strong> in the mountaineering village of Ginzling is especially noteworthy. The unique mix of sporting challenge and majestic mountain scenery has lent an iconic nature to this Zillertal sporting summer event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cross-border celebrations at the “Three Valleys Meet”<\/strong>
Commemorating shared history, consolidating close friendships and maintaining shared traditions – are guiding principles of the “Borderless Friendship” festival, which takes place in Mayrhofen over the weekend of 21st and 22nd September<\/strong>. The Zillertal, Ahrntal and Tauferertal valleys come together with their delegations, along with music and traditional groups to present their festive programme.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Zillertal Farmers’ & Musical Autumn<\/strong>
You should also make a note of the dates for this year’s Zillertal Farmers’ & Musical Autumn, which celebrates custom, regionality and music. From the 27th<\/sup> to the 28th<\/sup> of September and from the 04th<\/sup> to the 05th<\/sup> of October, the centre of Mayrhofen will be transformed into a colourful marketplace where exhibitors offer their products, invite you to sample them and people get together for a leisurely \u201cchat\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
