Even more winter walking routes and perfectly groomed cross-country skiing trails, even more comfortable and high-performance cable cars, plus lots of new highlights both on and off the slopes for adults and children alike \u2013 here\u2019s an overview of what visitors to Tirol can look forward to this coming winter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Away from the ski pistes<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

First solar-powered floodlit cross-country skiing trail \u00b7 <\/a>Kitzb\u00fchel Alps<\/strong>
In winter 2024\/25 fans of cross-country skiing can look forward to the first floodlit cross-country skiing trail in Hochfilzen in the PillerseeTal Valley<\/a>. The local tourism board here in the Kitzb\u00fchel Alps region has installed the floodlights as part of its drive to make the region as green and environmentally sustainable as possible. The lights are powered by around 50 solar panels with batteries which are able to light the cross-country skiing trail for around four hours after darkness falls.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New winter sports centre at the Matreier Tauernhaus \u00b7 Osttirol<\/strong>
This winter will see the opening of a new winter sports centre at the Matreier Tauernhaus in Osttirol<\/a>. Highlights include two signposted winter walking routes, four cross-country skiing trails, the largest artificial ice climbing park in Austria (70 routes) and a 17-metre-high ice climbing tower. A good alternative to skiing and snowboarding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

First snowshoe walking trail in Kappl \u00b7 Paznaun-Ischgl<\/strong>
At around 1.8 kilometres in length and with 77 vertical metres of uphill from start to finish, the first snowshoe walking trail in Kappl<\/a> is a relatively easy affair and ideal for beginners. It starts at the top of the Diasbahn cable car and leads up to a wooden barn before returning to the starting point, where the Sunny Mountain Restaurant offers a good place for a snack and a drink.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cSechszeiger Skywalk\u201d new winter walking trail \u00b7 Pitztal Valley<\/strong>
In winter 2024\/25 a new winter walking trail called the Sechszeiger Skywalk will open at the top of the Sechszeiger chairlift in the Pitztal Valley<\/a>, which walkers can now use to ride up and down the mountain. The two-kilometre-long walking trail begins at the top of the lift and leads to the top of the Sechszeiger mountain at almost 2,400 metres above sea level before returning to the starting point.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Star-shaped winter walking trail on a high plateau \u00b7 Region Seefeld – Tirols Hochplateau<\/strong>
In addition to the existing long-distance winter walking trail (4 stages, 3 overnight stays, luggage transport) the Seefeld region will offer a new winter walking trail<\/a> from winter 2024\/25. Formed in the shape of a star, it invites hikers to explore each of the five villages on the sunny Seefeld plateau across five days. Every stage begins in Seefeld. A great way to visit some of the lesser-known spots in the region and to add a new element to the spa, shopping and food on offer in Seefeld itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New combined offer cable car and winter walking \u00b7 Wildsch\u00f6nau<\/strong>
Two new guided winter walks<\/a> await guests visiting the Wildsch\u00f6nau region from winter 2024\/25. Every Wednesday there is a walk at the Markbachjoch (1,500 metres) through deep snow, while on Fridays the walk is from the top of the Schatzbergbahn cable car (1,800 metres) to the Gernalm hut. These hikes are included in the Wildsch\u00f6nau Card, which also provides free snowshoe hire. Walkers without a ski pass can use the lifts at a discounted rate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

News from the ski resorts<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

New lifts in the Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn \u00b7 Kitzb\u00fchel Alps<\/strong>
Winter 2024\/25 sees the opening of two new lifts<\/a> in the huge resort of Skicircus Saalbach Hinterglemm Leogang Fieberbrunn. The first is the lift up onto the L\u00e4rchfilzkogel mountain in Fieberbrunn, which is now faster and enables guests to ride from bottom to top without having to change cable cars. The second new lift is the NORD ten-person cable car. A new bridge has also been built over the main road to make it easy for skiers and snowboarders to access both of these lifts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Renovation of the Panorama Restaurant Kreuzjoch in Schlick 2000 \u00b7 Stubai<\/strong>
Following extensive renovation work, the Panorama Restaurant Kreuzjoch<\/a> next to the top of the Kreuzjochbahn will seat up to 200 guests from winter 2024\/25. The restaurant now features a self-service area, a table-service area and a panorama bar including a large terrace. The decor is a mixture of modern and traditional styles, while the food is typically Tirolean.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New lifts in the Zillertal Arena \u00b7 Zell-Gerlos<\/strong>
Two new lifts<\/a> will be opening in the Zillertal Arena from winter 2024\/25. One is the eight-person Teufeltal chairlift, which will in future make it quicker and easier to get from Zell am Ziller to Gerlos. Highlights include pull-down plastic bubbles to protect against inclement weather as well as heated seats and the ability to transport more passengers per hour than the previous lift between Zell am Ziller and Gerlos. The second new lift for winter 2024\/25 is the six-person Duxer X-Press, which will replace the four-person Duxeralmbahn chairlift. It also features pull-down plastic bubbles to protect against inclement weather as well as heated seats and can carry more people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New cable cars in the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser \u2013 Brixental<\/strong>
From winter 2024\/25 the village of Scheffau will have a new cable car, the 8-CLD\/B Eibergbahn<\/a>, which will reduce transport time and increase transport capacity. Equipped with solar panels which provide around 50 % of the electricity needed to run the lift, it will be able to transport 4,570 passengers per hour. A further new highlight can be found at the top of the Zinsbergbahn cable car in Brixen im Thale, where guests will be able to marvel at the 360\u00b0 view thanks to a new viewing platform<\/a> which can be reached by elevator or stairs. Last but certainly not least, the resort will be opening a new small-scale hydroelectric plant in S\u00f6ll, which from December 2024 will provide 25 % of the energy needed to operate all the lifts in S\u00f6ll. This is an important measure in the resort\u2019s ongoing effort to generate as much energy as possible from renewable sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Family & spa<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Expansion of the Erlebnistherme Zillertal \u00b7 Erste Ferienregion im Zillertal<\/strong>
New chillout rooms, a larger sauna area with nude zone, outdoor swimming pools, showers and a sauna garden as well as an additional range of services for families with children such as slides, water cannons and bucket showers are just some of the new highlights on offer from winter 2024\/25 at the Erlebnistherme Zillertal spa<\/a>. Don\u2019t forget to also check out the new entrance area as well as the exclusive roof terrace with fabulous panoramic views.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Witch-themed children\u2019s area at the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser \u2013 Brixental<\/strong>
Winter 2024\/25 will see the opening of a new witch-themed winter wonderland for children<\/a> in Hochs\u00f6ll. Accessible free of charge, it will be located at the middle station of the Hexenwasser cable car and include an ice rink, a winter playground, a conveyor-belt lift, a relaxation area with recliners and an area where youngsters can take their first tentative turns on skis and snowboards. In the heated Gingerbread House there are toboggans and other items available to hire free of charge. The winter wonderland is also the starting point for the new winter adventure trail leading up to the St\u00f6cklalm hut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

New snowtubing course at the Familienpark Drachental \u00b7 Wildsch\u00f6nau<\/strong>
The Familienpark Drachental in Oberau<\/a> in the Wildsch\u00f6nau region already has plenty of family-friendly activities such as an alpine coaster, a 5D cinema, a ball-roll course and an ice rink. From winter 2024\/25 it will have a new highlight: a snowtubing course next to the children\u2019s draglift and beginner ski area. Great fun for all ages!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Triassic Park at the Steinplatte Waidring \u00b7 Kitzb\u00fchel Alps<\/strong>
The Triassic Park in the PillerseeTal Valley<\/a> will be opening a new Triassic Funline in winter 2024\/25 with up-and-down rollers, banked corners, a huge snow snail with tunnel, a children\u2019s slalom and much more. There is also childcare available to give Mum and Dad a break while the kids are having fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Evening walks at the Zammer Lochputz \u00b7 Ferienregion TirolWest<\/strong>
From winter 2024\/25 there will be two guided evening walks per week through the Zammer Lochputz gorge<\/a> in the Ferienregion Tirol West. With bright headlamps on, you will be able to experience the glistening ice crystals of the waterfall and the enchanting atmosphere of what is one of Tirol\u2019s most mystical and enchanting canyons. A real highlight for guests of all ages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
