New course records, an international field of participants and online for the very first time: the unrivaled 2025 Stuiben Trail Run was a truly thrilling natural spectacle. Mathieu Delpeuch from France triumphed in the supreme discipline over 44.1 kilometers, while \u00d6tztal local Edith Zell took the women’s victory. Athletes from 24 different nations competed in this event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The eighth edition of the Stuiben Trail Run (22\u201324 May) was a very sporty weekend guaranteed to give all participants and fans goosebumps. 800 runners braved the 728 natural and steel steps leading along Tirol’s largest waterfall. Around half of the participants – and thus the majority – came from Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quite cool temperatures demanded everything from the athletes, but a couple of snow-covered sections at over 2,000 meters above sea level provided a really spectacular alpine backdrop. The perfect blend of athletic challenge, elaborate organization and scenic wow factor ensured a successful event.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Record-breaking performances<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year’s Stuiben Trail Run set two new course records: Sven Koch (GER) triumphed at the Stuiben Trail 24K with a time of 2:30:02, Mathieu Delpeuch (FRA) beat the previous best time in the supreme 42K discipline with a time of 4:46:20. Edith Zell (AUT) from L\u00e4ngenfeld won the women’s main race in 6:24:17, covering 44.1 km and 3,100 altitude meters. The Stuiben Trail 12K and the Stuiben Sprint also offered exciting duels and really impressive performances, including the top-notch times of Thomas Roach (GBR), 22:05 minutes, and Birgit Posselt (GER), 31:24 minutes, on the short distance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Livestream premiere inspires from a distance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the first time, the main races on Saturday were broadcast via livestream not only at the finish line, but also online via oetztal.com and \u00d6tztal’s YouTube channel. Fans, friends and families at home were able to follow the trail running action up close, including the thrilling emotions in the finish area. Thanks to coherent commentary, drones and trail cameras, the entire event was broadcast to the world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Trail running with a family-like DNA<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

What sets the Stuiben Trail Run apart is its athletic quality and, above all, the unique atmosphere. “The blend of nature, emotion and family camaraderie makes our event an undisputed attraction in the trail running calendar,” emphasizes Martin Scheiber, chairman of \u00d6tztal\u2019s Trail Running Association. The community was also strengthened through program events such as an expert talk, a trail running film evening and live music. Athletes also enjoyed massages, recovery sessions and specialist presentations by “Base Five,” who accompanied the event as a performance partner.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As in previous years, the organizers placed great emphasis on regionality, sustainability and top quality as the entire event mainly centered on local partners and a conscious use of resources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Looking towards Gurgl<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next highlight in the \u00d6tztal Trail Running Series will soon follow at the Glacier Trail Run in Gurgl from 17 to 19 July 2025. The disciplines are highly challenging for trail runners as they cover distances of up to 61.1 kilometers and 3,600 altitude meters. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
