The unrivaled \u00d6tztaler Cycle Marathon, the classic event in the Alps, is getting closer. This week, the largest mass sports event sees a cooperation with Austria’s largest elite sporting event. For the very first time, the \u00d6tztaler Cycle Marathon Community Ride will take place as part of the Tour of Austria. And after that, things will get even busier on \u00d6RM TV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The starting signal for the 44th<\/sup> \u00d6tztaler Cycle Marathon will be given in S\u00f6lden at 6:30 on 31 August 2025. The race over 227 kilometers will cover 5,500 altitude meters, crossing K\u00fchtai, Brenner and Jaufen Passes, before climbing dreaded Timmelsjoch and descending to the finish line. During the registration phase at the beginning of the year, the organizers saw a record high of 25,280 requests from 50 countries. “We want to attract more women to our 44th<\/sup> edition of the \u00d6tztaler Cycle Marathon and this year also showcase our dream team of over 1,300 female and male volunteers. They are doing an incredible job. The number of women participating in the race is also steadily increasing. This year we have 459 women at the start, almost 20 percent more than last year,” explains Heike Klotz, member of the OC. She also emphasizes the importance of sustainability and regionality, which will continue to be a significant part of the \u00d6tztaler Cycle Marathon in 2025. Nine electric Skoda cars will be along the race track this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Summit meeting with the Tour of Austria in K\u00fchtai<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On 12 July 2025, the 4th<\/sup> and penultimate stage of the Tour of Austria will take place between Innsbruck and K\u00fchtai. “After great discussions with Tour Director Thomas Pupp, we developed the \u00d6tztaler Cycle Marathon Community Ride, which every cycling fan can participate in. We want to create a link between the largest recreational sports event and Austria’s most important elite sporting event,” explains Kuen. The ride will start in Oetz exactly at 10:00 on 12 July while the arrival in K\u00fchtai on the route closed to public traffic is scheduled for around 12:00 noon – just in time to witness the professional cycling race live on site. “It will be a true summit meeting with the pros, we hope that many will join us,” Pupp adds. \u00d6RM TV and \u00d6RM Podcast <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Immediately following the exciting campaign during the Tour of Austria, the first \u00d6RM TV broadcast will begin on 16 July. Starting at 18:00, this year’s finisher jersey will be presented to the public. All other broadcasts, which can be followed on the \u00d6RM website and YouTube channel, will take place after the opening broadcast: on 13 August (18:00) and on 29 August (18:30). After that, the race weekend starts with the riders\u2019 briefing being streamed live on 30 August at 18:00. And on race day, a 15-hour live stream awaits all fans starting at 6:15 in the morning! In 2024, the livestream recorded 113,216 views and also this year, hundreds of thousands of cycling fans will again follow the classic cycling race in the Alps live! In Marco Brugger’s monthly podcast, he talks – among others – with former ski star Thomas Dre\u00dfen about current topics in cycling and his own training progress. Without the many helping hands – from general assistants especially in setup, cake bakers, course marshals, representatives of emergency services, staff at the refreshment stations and in many other areas \u2013 the \u00d6tztaler Cycle Marathon would not be possible on such a large scale. “That’s why we want to highlight them even more this year.
