Kufstein, Tyrol \u2013 From July 13 to 18, 2026, Kufsteinerland will expand the time-honored Kufstein Wine Festival into a multi-day Wine Week for the first time. With wine tastings, culinary hikes, fine dining, and insights into international glassmaking, the new format combines wine, landscape, and the living town twinning with Langenlois.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are events that arise from an idea. And there are those that grow out of a story. The Kufstein Wine Festival belongs to the second category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For more than two decades, the festival has connected Kufstein with the Lower Austrian wine town of Langenlois\u2014not as a tourist attraction, but as a symbol of friendship and solidarity. Following the 2002 flood disaster, Kufstein supported the town in its reconstruction. This led to a town twinning that continues to this day. And shortly thereafter, a wine festival emerged that has long since become a fixture of Kufstein\u2019s summer events.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In July 2026, this tradition, which has grown over the years, will become a full-fledged wine week for the first time. From July 13 to 18, the Kufstein region will transform into a place where wine is not only tasted but where wine culture can be experienced in various ways\u2014amidst alpine landscapes, crafts, cuisine, and personal encounters.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s new about Wine Week is, above all, the diversity of perspectives on the topic of wine. Instead of focusing exclusively on the traditional wine festival, the Kufstein region opens up a view of the stories behind it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyone strolling through Kufstein during this week in July won\u2019t just encounter winemakers and wine lovers. Rather, during these summer days, a relaxing atmosphere emerges between Kufstein\u2019s historic alleys and the foothills of the Tyrolean mountains\u2014that blend of enjoyment and character that defines the Kufsteinerland region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A wine hike led by sommelier and mountain guide Matthias Breitsameter takes you up to the Weinbergerhaus at Brentenjoch\u2014high up in the Kaiser Mountains, where alpine nature and wine culture come surprisingly close together. In an exclusive tasting setting, guests meet directly with the winemaker from the Schweiger Winery in Langenlois, who will also be present at the main wine festival later on.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Vitus & Urban, the wine bar at the arte Hotel Kufstein, the focus is on modern wine presentations and relaxed moments of enjoyment, while at the traditional Auracher L\u00f6chl, wine tastings take place in a historic setting\u2014accompanied by atmospheric jazz music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the Kufstein wine bar Mazerat at the foot of the fortress, it becomes clear just how much taste depends on perception: During a special wine glass tasting, visitors experience how differently a wine can taste\u2014depending on which glass it is drunk from.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is no coincidence that this experience takes place in Kufstein of all places. Kufstein is home to Riedel, one of the world\u2019s most internationally renowned glass manufacturers. During Wine Week, daily guided tours open the doors to the production facility: visitors see how those glasses that shape the wine-drinking experience worldwide are crafted from molten glass. The museum also demonstrates why the right glass shape can make all the difference.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The highlight of the week remains the Kufstein Wine Festival on July 17 and 18. Winemakers from Langenlois and other renowned wine regions bring their wines to the fortress town. This is complemented by regional cuisine, live music, and balmy summer evenings in the heart of Kufstein\u2014and, of course, the wine is served in Riedel glasses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, the connection between Kufstein and Langenlois is particularly evident in one very special place: the \u201cKufsteiner Weinberg\u201d\u2014not in the Kufsteinerland region but in Lower Austria. It is there that the grapes grow from which the \u201cKufwein\u201d is produced each year\u2014a cuv\u00e9e that is far more than a symbolic product. Each vintage tells its own story, receives a unique label, and is accompanied by a wine patron, who is announced for the current vintage during the wine festival.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, a festival steeped in tradition evolves into a multi-day experiential format that goes far beyond classic event tourism. Wine Week combines cuisine with culture, craftsmanship with landscape, and encounters with stories\u2014and once again makes the Kufsteinerland the place where enjoyment doesn\u2019t feel staged, but rather has grown organically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWine Week is a deliberate step forward that builds on an existing tradition and consciously combines history, regional roots, and new formats,\u201d says TVB Chairman Georg H\u00f6rhager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
