Five races, prominent participants and a varied supporting programme<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Kufstein \u2013 The wait is over: the Kufsteinerland Radmarathon is celebrating its tenth anniversary and is heading towards a new participation record. Cycling enthusiasts can look forward to a varied weekend with five races and a live broadcast from the start and finish area. The supporting programme with an Expo Area, mountain time trial and warm-up rides is aimed at professional, amateur and e-bike riders. Some well-known names will also be at the start: former professional cyclist Max Kuen, a familiar figure in Austrian cycling, will be taking part. Last year\u2019s winners Ren\u00e9 Pammer and Monika Fritz will also be there. Due to high demand, registration has already closed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The weekend kicks off on Friday afternoon, 21 August 2026, with the Aschinger Alm Gaudirace in Ebbs near Kufstein \u2013 a mountain time trial for professional, amateur and e-bike riders, followed by an awards ceremony against an impressive Alpine backdrop. On Saturday, 22 August, the official warm-up begins at 1:00 p.m. with various road bike rides. These include the \u201cCappuccino Ride\u201d, where former professional cyclist Max Kuen and his team will ride for one to two hours at a relaxed pace of 22 to 25 km\/h.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cWelcome Ride by female cycling force\u201d will also be back. The Munich-based community is committed to increasing the visibility of women in cycling, promoting community and encouraging road cycling without performance pressure. The ride starts at 1:30 p.m. in front of the Kultur Quartier. The approximately 40-kilometre route includes a stop at the Bierol beer garden in Schwoich. Following the \u201cEinradl-Runden\u201d rides, a mechanic workshop for anyone interested will take place in the afternoon. Live music, coffee and the Bike Expo complete the programme, making the event an experience for sports fans and those simply looking to enjoy the atmosphere away from the race route as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The big race day<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Sunday, 23 August, the sporting highlights of the anniversary weekend are on the programme. The Bike Expo opens its doors as early as 7:00 a.m. At 7:30 a.m., participants in the cycling marathon over 120 kilometres and 1,800 metres of elevation gain as well as the lake circuit over 95 kilometres and 1,160 metres of elevation gain will start from \u201cOberer Stadtplatz\u201d in Kufstein. Ten minutes later, at 7:40 a.m., the starting signal will sound for the 48-kilometre panorama route. In a premiere, the final starting signal will sound at 7:50 a.m. for e-bike riders and handbike riders, who will each compete in their own classification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well-known participants<\/strong>
Once again this year, former professional cyclist and Kufstein native Max Kuen will take on the sporting challenge. Miguel Brugger will join him at the start. Last year\u2019s winners Ren\u00e9 Pammer and Monika Fritz will also return. Both are aiming to defend their titles in the anniversary race and once again compete for victory at the Kufsteinerland Radmarathon. Another special participant is Ekkehart Kinz, who, as the oldest participant, has a remarkable personal story connected with the Kufsteinerland Radmarathon. This makes for a high-calibre and diverse field of participants that is a fitting match for the tenth anniversary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Live broadcast, Pasta Party and extensive supporting programme<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The race action will once again be broadcast live in 2026. Following the successful premiere last year, cycling fans will once again be able to follow the action from the start and finish area at \u201cOberer Stadtplatz\u201d via livestream. Between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon, the broadcast will feature live commentary, interviews with experts, up-to-date insights into the race, coverage of the leading group and a summary of the most important moments of the race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On site, visitors can look forward to a varied Expo Area with a number of exhibitors, including BikeQuadrat, the specialist bike shop from Niederndorf. Physiowerk Kufstein will also support participants with regenerative massages designed to aid recovery and help prevent muscular discomfort. The Pasta Party begins at 11:00 a.m. with a selection of pasta dishes. From 11:30 a.m., the awards ceremonies for the panorama route (48 km) will follow in stages. From 2:00 p.m., the winners of the cycling marathon (120 km) and the lake circuit (95 km) will be honoured. The awards ceremonies will take place in the start and finish area. In case of bad weather, the Pasta Party and the awards ceremonies will be moved to the Kultur Quartier Kufstein.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Routes, scenery and road closures<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are also numerous attractive viewpoints along the route where spectators can follow the race particularly well. The section from Vorderthiersee towards Hinterthiersee is especially challenging. Other notable climbs are located in Kleins\u00f6ll near Breitenbach and on the ascent to Brandenberg.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Particularly impressive scenic highlights include Lake Thiersee with the Passionsspielhaus as well as views of the Kaiser Mountains and Kufstein Fortress. The route therefore offers not only sporting highlights but also impressive scenery for participants and spectators alike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Temporary traffic stops and road closures are to be expected during the race. In the Brandenberg area towards Mariatal, traffic will be temporarily stopped to allow the leading group to pass. \u201cOberer Stadtplatz\u201d in Kufstein will be closed on Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. In addition, the L30 Hinterthiersee road between the Grub bus turning area and the junction with the L37 towards Landl will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Residents are exempt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
