On all skins: piste ski tours Eldorado PillerseeTal

Last updated on 11.01.2022

The Buchensteinwand mountain railway Pillersee installs the Tyrolean piste tour guidance system. The Buchensteinwand in the heart of the PillerseeTal is the perfect starting point for your ski tour. A whole mountain for ski tourers. Three marked routes lead from the valley station up to the Jakobskreuz, which can be seen from far away on the summit. But tourers also get their money’s worth in Fieberbrunn.

Ski Touring in the PillerseeTal

Whether you are a newcomer to ski touring or a seasoned skier – the three routes on the Buchensteinwand offer great views of the surrounding mountains. The highlight is the Jakobksreuz, which can be seen from afar. Thanks to the newly installed Tyrolean piste tour guidance system, tourers on the Buchensteinwand are well informed. The standardised boards show tourers the course of the trail, the metres in altitude still to be covered and the distance to the destination. The tour map is solved, the touring skis are strapped on, the safety rules are checked and then it’s off to the heights of the Buchensteinwand under your own steam.

Three special routes for tourers on the Buchensteinwand

The first route Panorama Ascent: An ascent for piste tourers on a pleasant gradient and with a great panorama via ski slope 1. The destination of the ascent route is at Jakobskreuz, Buchensteinwand mountain station. The start of the ascent route is directly behind the Intersport building in the area of the Buchensteinwand lifts valley station. After a flat start, the gradient of the route increases steadily in the lower third, but remains pleasant throughout. After a small narrow section, which is bypassed at the edge of the piste (signposted), the route runs along the ridge ridge after a short steep section to the mountain station of the Hochfilzen II lift. From here straight along the ski trail of ski slope 1 in a few metres of altitude to the Buchensteinwand mountain station at Jakobskreuz.
Tour data: 4.5 km and 590 hm

The second route Kammbergalm Ascent: Sporty ascent with several short steep sections, with flatter sections in between. The destination of the ascent route is at Jakobskreuz, Buchensteinwand mountain station. The start of the ascent route is directly behind the Intersport building in the area of the Buchensteinwand lifts valley station. After approx. 15-20 min walking time, the route branches off onto ski slope 2. From here, continue along the left edge of the piste over a short steep section into flatter terrain. After crossing the piste and another short steep section, follow the ski trail to the Kammbergalm at an altitude of 1,320m.
Shortly after the Kammbergalm, the ascent leaves ski slope 2 and runs in a direct line to Jakobskreuz.
Tour data: 3.6 km and 590 hm

The third route from Hochfilzen Hoametzl Ascent: Sporty ascent from Hochfilzen to the Buchensteinwand with continuously increasing steepness. The route always runs along the left edge of ski slopes 4 and 9. In the upper third, the steepest section of ski slope 9 is bypassed via the summer path in the forest. The destination of the ascent route is the mountain station of the Hochfilzen II ski lift. From there it is an easy 15-minute walk via the ascent route 1 – Fleckberg coming from St. Jakob in Haus to the Jakobskreuz on the Buchensteinwand.
Tour data: 2.8 km and 500 hm
