Cosy & family-friendly: new accommodation in Tirol for summer 2022
Last updated on 14.04.2022
From centuries-old farmsteads which have been renovated and modernised with great attention to detail to completely new hotel complexes with lots of natural materials and wonderful locations in the mountains, guests visiting Tirol in summer 2022 can look forward to new accommodation options combining a cosy atmosphere with a traditionally warm welcome for all the family.
Modern & welcoming: Natur Resort Rissbacher
The former Rissbacherhof in the village of Stumm in the Zillertal Valley has recently been modernised and transformed into the 4* Natur Resort Rissbacher. The new rooms and suites, all of which have a balcony with mountain views, are furnished with solid pine chairs, tables, cupboards, etc. Energy is drawn from renewable sources. The highlight at the resort, which is run by the Rissbacher family, is the SKY SPA on the top floor, high above the rooftops of the village, featuring a heated outdoor pool, a lounge and a selection of saunas.
Traditional & authentic: Almhof Zillertal
Dating back around 400 years, the Almhof Zillertal has a long and proud history. It is perched at 1,200 metres above sea level and has recently been modernised to include state-of-the-art bathrooms and a sauna. The building itself has kept many of its original features such as a traditional wood-burning heater and a wood-burning cooker. The Almhof Zillertal has three bedrooms sleeping up to 11 guests.
Idyllic & secluded: Boggnhof
Hidden away in a beautifully secluded location, the Boggnhof in the tiny hamlet of Stummerberg is a great place to get away from it all. This guesthouse in the Zillertal Valley offers fabulous views of the mountains from its two recently renovated holiday apartments (“Wiesnblick” and “Weitblick”) run by the Braunegger family. The former, as the name suggests, offers mainly views of lush mountain pastures, while the latter has majestic panoramas across the valley floor and beyond. Both flats are fitted with traditional wooden furniture and provide an ideal base for families and groups.
Relaxation & adventure: Leite Häusl
The village of St. Jodok in the Wipptal Valley, one of Tirol’s official Mountaineering Villages, is home to the Leite Häusl. This small accommodation which has been completely renovated in recent years enjoys a secluded location yet is just a five-minute walk from the railway station. It sleeps up to five guests, who can look forward to modern surroundings with two bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom with all mod-cons. Its location makes the Leite Häusl an excellent base for outdoor activities such as walking, mountain biking, mountaineering and rock climbing.
Remote & cosy: Bergler Hoamat
The Bergler Hoamat lies in the heart of a forest in the Wipptal Valley, making it a warm and cosy spot ideal for guests wishing to get back to nature. This holiday home is spread over two floors and has a total of three bedrooms, one bathroom, a separate WC and a fully equipped kitchen. There is space for two families with children or a group of eight people. The Bergler Hoamat is a fine starting point for walks and bike rides into the mountains around Navis. It also has its own garden with a barbeque.
Warm & welcoming: AlpenParks Hotel & Apartment Montana
The new AlpenParks Hotel & Apartment Montana in the town of Matrei in East Tirol is a harmony of contrasts where the alpine meets the urban. Its hotel rooms have been designed with great attention to detail featuring lots of wood and warm colours, while its holiday apartments offer a little more space and in some cases have their own private sauna. Next door is the Restaurant Alte Mühle serving a mix of alpine and Mediterranean cuisine. The AlpenParks Hotel & Apartment Montana is on the edge of the Hohe Tauern National Park, home to some of Austria’s highest mountains, where guests will find lots of hiking, biking and climbing options to choose from.
Stylish & sustainable: H ALM
Style and sustainability are the name of the game at H ALM, a private hut perched high at the Alpe Stalle at 1,720 metres above sea level in the Defereggental Valley in East Tirol. The hut has recently been renovated and can be booked from summer 2022. Highlights include a cosy living/dining area, two bedrooms, a large bathroom and a glass front with magnificent views of the valley.
Historical & new: Heissangerer Apartments
The Heissangerer Hof has a long and proud history stretching back over 500 years. It is run today by the Kössler family and has been painstakingly renovated over the last two years to turn this idyllic farmstead in Tulfes into a cosy holiday home plus three new state-of-the-art apartments. The flats feature modern facilities and a free multimedia complex as well as a wood-burning heater creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Cool & creative: coolnest
This new boutique hotel by the name of coolnest is located in the Zillertal Valley and run by the same people as those responsible for the stylish Kristallhütte hut high in the mountains. Modern rooms, stunning views, fine food and a rooftop pool make for an enjoyable stay in the village of Ramsau. The rooms, known as nests, all have their own terrace or garden overlooking nearby Mayrhofen and the Zillertal Valley mountains. After a long day out in the Alps, don’t miss out on the opportunity to relax in the spa before heading down to the Restaurant Tweets with its mix of Austrian and international cuisine served in a dining area with mountain views.
