30 days to go until the WMTRC’s kick-off

Today, May 6 it will be exactly one month to go until the World Mountain and Trail Running Championships (WMTRC) 2023 Innsbruck-Stubai kick off. From June 6 to 10 the two Tyrolean hosting regions will become a center of mountain and trail running, with an extensive fringe program to accompany the event.

On June 6, Gregor Meyle and his band are going to ignite the fire, so to speak, and kick off the WMTRC program with a free concert outside the Landestheater from 8:00 PM. They will be performing hits like “Jetzt kommt der Tag” (“Now Comes The Day”) and “Flieg jetzt los” (Take Flight Now”). Lyrics like “Du hast hart trainiert und hast viel riskiert für dich. Flieg jetzt los, immer weiter” (“You have trained hard and have risked a lot, take flight now, keep going”) are perfectly suited to put both athletes and spectators in the right mood for the contests.

Tim Bendzko at the grand finale

Following the closing ceremony, Tim Bendzko will be the WMTRC’s closing act as well as one of its highlights, performing from 8:45 PM on June 10. His songs speak of empathy, touching the hearts and souls of his fans. Hardly any other musician has left their mark on German-speaking pop music the way he has.

Apart from the highlights – the opening and closing ceremonies – there are going to be further live acts as well as the cultural experience night in Stubai and artistic as well as culinary events to offer something to everyone. Looking for further “Cheering Crews”

A sports event is something unique thanks to the atmosphere and to the images that are being broadcast. This is why the Organizing Committee has come up with the idea of so-called ”Cheering Crews”. “The athletes’ achievements are extraordinary, irrespective of whether they cover 7 or 85 kilometers or anything in between – they have deserved to be cheered on and to be motivated,”, Alexander Pitt, head of the OC, stresses.
