Road biking

With around 3,800 kilometres of road bike trails, Tirol offers great variety for every skill level: from flat routes through secluded valleys and idyllic villages, to high-altitude routes and spectacular serpentines all the way up to glacial heights. Ambitious mountain bikers venture on the “Great Rides”, the country’s top 10 racing bike routes with many metres of altitude difference, unique views and speedy descents.

Numerous racing bike events throughout the country are particularly spectacular for participants and spectators alike: from prestigious races where everyone can take part / Gran Fondos, such as the Ötztaler Radmarathon, to renowned professional cycling races, such as the Tour of the Alps. The crowning glory and infallible proof of Tirol’s competence in road cycling? Hosting the UCI Road Cycling World Championships in September 2018.
