Osttirol ©Tirol Werbung / Heinzlmeier Bert

As part of this group press trip,Tirol Werbung invites international media representatives to become acquainted with the Mountain Water Paradise of Defereggental and the Hohe Tauern National Park with all its natural attractions and highlights from 29th August to 1st September 2019. Particular attention will be paid to the special features and quality of the mountain water and diversity of species in the Hohe Tauern National Park. Join us on our search for the “Big 5 of the Alps.”

With an impressive 266 three-thousand-metre-high peaks, including Austria’s highest mountains, this area is known as the „roof of Austria“. Osttirol, which stretches from the rugged cliffs of the Hohe Tauern to the Lienzer Dolomites as an exclave of the province of Tirol, comprises of 33 municipalities, most of which are located on the sunny side of the Alps. The southern flair can be felt particularly strongly in the district capital of Lienz, not least because of its palm trees, which exude the ambience of a tropical summer.

Hohe Tauern National Park

Hohe Tauern National Park is one of the most magnificent high mountain landscapes on earth and is the largest nature reserve in the entire Alpine region. Here you will find extraordinary biodiversity and we will follow the trail of plants and wildlife. Together we will experience this fascinating wilderness in the middle of Europe - 1,856 km² of pristine natural landscapes, 15,000 animal species, including the Big Five of the Alps.
